Sub Zero Hat
first one I made (enlarged) Second one, same as the first just minor edits/fixes/altering of colors. actual size Hat form http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs44/f/2009/137/f/f/Sub_Zero_by_ghost0072007.jpg (Unsupported image host) reference image My question is what do you think of it, and does the first or second version look better?

Sub Zero is a blue character from mortal combat. http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs44/f/2009/137/f/f/Sub_Zero_by_ghost0072007.jpg (Unsupported image host)tried to recreate it so color wasn't a choice.

Why did you use so many different variants of blue on the mouth portion of the mask? It's seems almost random. Plus, it takes a lot away from the shape - it makes it look flat. And in the middle of the brows (that lighter portion), the second one seems to be angled in the wrong direction. And the highlighting for the black part is weird as well. It might look better if the base was a lighter color, and then you could also give it more depth. I like the first one better, because if you squint your eyes it seems to have more shape than the second. Please don't take offence to any of this, it's really only feedback ;] |

I like it but the piece covering the mouth looks messy. Referring to the second one btw, and like said above the pixels almost look random, I don't understand it at all. I can almost discern maybe where you were trying to add the same texture as the reference pic. Clean it up and it will look better |

Thanks for criticism guys it helps me improve on my other works in the future. I will take that into consideration. Reason I went messy with the mask was I was trying for a different approach for shading. I'm guessing that isn't a good way then and yea @ eric. I prefer GIMP because it is easier to make .gif though |
