This is correct. The vast majority of Gaia Online items are tributes to some anime, game, movie, or comic books. How is this shop owner not Storm from X-Men? How is this not Minato from Naruto? Rock Lee? Neji? Asuma? Naruto himself? Sailor Moon? Solid Snake? Aeris? Zelda? Tetra? You could really go on ALL DAY with Gaia's stuff. An MMORPG named Trickster also has a lot of this, including Power Ranger costumes if I remember correctly. Another MMORPG named Dragonica has outfits that you can buy for premium money such as a Kill Bill "kung fu" outfit and a Pokemon "red-capped 5-piece" costume.

The content isn't named after what they're clearly representing, but they are only tributes, not copyright infringing material. I don't understand why everyone is so concerned about it anyway. I really don't.

But you're making money off of it... So thats a whole different thing..
The lucy, buu, android 17 and other heads are involved in a custom pack which costs 2 dollars (which in the graal+ version aswell) so technically thats copyright law... Especially when some of the heads exactly look like characters from other games/animes..

If it was 100% free, then this issue wouldn't be brought up

The other games are making money off of it to. Also, contrary to popular belief, something being free doesn't exclude it from copyright laws.

You guys still arguing about this? Didn't i already point out if you remake something and not an actual rip there's no copyright issues with graal. Why don't you go pick on that app pokedex which sell on the app store for $.99 that's what you call a rip they took images from Nintendo DS yet they are still on the app store for almost a year. Get over it the rules are simple by guidelines what's already there is already there. Could be replaced or not. This is how Graal been doing it for years on pc servers, fan made items that a person actually pixel from sratch is ok.

Just it won't happen on iClassic, copyright content shall not be uploaded by players. (SIMPLE)

Ever heard of Crafted? They created their own graphics which were 2D replicas of minecraft. They got taken down after about 2 weeks.

No... They were actual sprites of the models themselves..

Minecraft is 3D. Crafted is not. No they weren't.

Actually crafted is still there just not for US Servers

Minecraft also got 2D objects prices which are "transformed" into 3D ones. Graal also could use them for their game.

They were using the textures and sprites(which surprise, are 2d) for their 2d graphics.

I still fail to see how that is any different than making your own exact copies though...

And this is why you shouldn't even be in this thread. The fact that you are having problems grasping such simple concepts just invalidates anything you have to say.

Crafted ripped the graphics directly from Minecraft. They took the graphics from terrain.png, copy and pasted them right into their game. Can you tell me any of these heads are graphics directly ripped from somewhere else?

I'm done talking about Crafted, it was an example. My main point is that characters who are copyright to a certain group or person are not copyrighted by one image. It doesn't matter if you re-draw something, it's that character regardless.

So, if you're saying copyrighted material is okay, as long as we created it, then why aren't we allowed copyrighted customs (Pokemon, Anime Characters, etc.) even if we make them ourselves?

the staff/uploaders can regulate the customs however they want,
I'm sure they're are some guidelines.

Being able to upload customs is a privilege not a right.
