Dont rush. When you shot make sure you arent moving too much. Side to side or Crouch. Tap your mouse dont hold it unless you are close but aim at their chest. Practice make close to prefect.

Should aim towards the head more than the chest, one hit kills are extremely easy that way with any gun and once you get higher rank pretty much everyone does that so it's better to get into the habit now than later.

Not to be rude or anything but maybe CS:GO just isn't the type of game for you, if you really do enjoy it though there's a lot of ways to improve.

Playing BOT matches on the hardest difficulty can help you with aim practice for starting out, then try playing normal death match games and facing other players so you can gain real time practice and test out the various weapons and find something that suits you.

Practice using flashes/smokes/grenades on different maps as well, Dust 2 is the most popular in ranked so I'd place extra practice on that map but learning how to use grenades is very important. I personally prefer smokes and learning how to detect enemies in it which would give you a huge advantage but you should stick to frags/flashes for now.

Once you can perform well in death match move on to casual and practice more there, casual is the same gameplay style as competitive so it's really helpful. You'll probably see lots of people use the AWP but it really isn't that good so don't feel like you need to use it.

Pretty much just keep practicing and what not, play lots of casual before competitive so you don't kill your ELO rating. Will take a lot of time but it's worth it.

Also, make sure you practice on both Terrorist and Counter-Terrorist teams, you won't always get to pick which team you play on so it's important you can work with both and know where to go and when to go since both sides have different spawns and different routes to take on maps.

Also the normal crosshairs for CS:GO suck but you can get a custom one if you'd really like, in which case just send me a forum PM and I'll show you how.

Not sure what rank you are but in higher ranked matches people who use the AWP don't really go far.

Might be good in low ranked matches but relying on the AWP as your only good weapon is a terrible habit.

People like it because it's a 'one hit kill' but pretty much so is a majority of other guns if used properly.

I AWP every game, I switch between Supreme and Global. It's an amazing gun to use if you have the aim/reaction time for it. In lower ranks it's probably not as useful since it will probably take you a few shots to kill someone. But in higher ranks, on a map like DD2, I will tag a person crossing to B most of the time and make the round a whole lot easier. Or just go and get an entry kill and pretty much guarantee a won round if it gets to after plant positions.

Well it's safe to say you are way more skilled than most people here, but for a majority of these people just climbing into the higher ranks I doubt they'd be good enough with an AWP to perform like you do. I always found the AWP easy to counter and I usually play with close friends IRL so we know how to avoid the spots you can easily be sniped at. Even if they tried the opposing teams AWP'er would probably beat them anyways.

I just personally really dislike the use of snipers just feels cheap IMO.

Yeah I completely understand. Using something like an AK is always good, if you miss you always have another chance, whilst with the AWP if you miss you're dead.
I guess it depends on your play style. I like to be that guy that rushes into mid and gets the first pick. I like to go into a site first and get an entry frag - otherwise I feel like my team just sits and waits for for something to happen.

Shahzam, adrEN and KennyS would like to speak to you.

Being an AWP specialist is totally fine once you get past even Silver. I play a lot of 5's with my friends on ESEA and I play most maps as the dedicated AWPer on the team, and speaking from experience, it's entirely possible to carry entire games almost singlehandedly yourself if you're actually skilled with the AWP and can play your angles correctly. The only problem with dedicating yourself to AWPing is that it's expensive, and if your team is incompetent like in matchmaking and loses two or so rounds in a row in pubs, you can't expect to have an AWP back in your hands every round or even at all like you usually can in most cases on organized teams.

I still find it extremely easy to climb by spamming AWP on maps like DD2 and Nuke. Hell, on CT side Nuke I usually buy AWP-nothing if I feel my shot is on that day, that's just how powerful an AWP can be by itself. I can't reproduce the same lockdown of Ramp or Outside effortlessly with any other gun besides the AWP, one-shot kill or not. I can theoretically one-shot a five-man outside rush with the AK just as efficiently as I can with the AWP, but I'd probably have to be hacking. The AWP just provides so much lockdown of an entire area for CTs and basically secures a planted bomb for Ts when played correctly. When played incorrectly, however, might as well run Dualies and an MP7.

Colin 06-30-2015 04:51 AM

I've personally never had an AWP'er destroy our team but I guess it's because I play with the same people and we have more strategies than a random team, but I still think optimus would do better without it, he doesn't really seem like someone who can use it effectively but I may be wrong.

But I mean, I could easily go mid doors on Dust2 and headshot an AWP'er with my deagle if he didn't shoot fast enough any gun is capable of being godlike if you specialize in it. I have over 500 kills from Dual Berettas in competitive because just like any gun it's good if you know how to use it and aim.

I'm sure the AWP is good if people can play extremely well with it but optimus is a nooby so I think he'd be better mastering other guns and mechanics first.

Also, the reason I think it's a terrible habit is because like you said, you won't always have it so if you only use it you might fail horribly with other guns and let your team down.

The AWP is a good weapon but I wouldn't consider it to be better than everything else, but that's just my playing style and personal skill set.

Also Optimus, it's important you dominate the first few rounds and gain the advantage, it really helps out.

Normally I will start a pistol round with a P250. If I lose ill do it again, if i win ill buy a PP-Bizon. Normally I'm the AWper for my team and I do pretty gud but otherwise ill either go M4A4 or AK-47. If i get better with spray control ill become beast with them
