Also dragonite is great because of multiscale. Just to throw an idea out there... Maybe try using weakness policy in combination with multiscale and just dragon dance on that turn if you know you'll live.

Already recommended it. It's a killer set.

I faced a Mandibuzz today and he wiped my Dragonite out in one hit with Foul Play. Most likely because I used Dragon Dance earlier. Pretty nifty. I managed to defeat the Pokemon that I face on a regular basis that I hate (Landorus and Conkuldurr) and defeated his Azumarill, but he disconnected right before I defeated it. It is very discouraging when that happens. That's good that Dragonite isn't banned though. Now I see why he isn't from recent battles.

EDIT: Oh man that was cool. I battled someone on my friends list who had a Durant and swapped the Truant ability with my Dragonite's Multiscale so it loafed around every other turn. I've never seen that before. I ended up beating it anyways, but it rendered my Dragonite nearly useless.

EDIT#2: So I was thinking with my Porygon2 having Analytic and all, should I aim for one with -ATK AND -SPEED? Right now it has 5IVs -ATK and since Analytic is only good when he moves second, maybe that would be more useful. Also, what would be a good nature/ev spread for Gardevoir as a special sweeper?

Standard 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 Def for Gardevoir as a special sweeper, but I'd personally recommend other special sweepers since Gardevoir is pretty frail and is best used as dual screen support, which she's really good at. Volcarona and even Lucario if played correctly can be deadly special sweepers. Volc with a Quiver Dance set and Luc with Nasty Plot.

Gotcha, thanks! Is Female Meowstic really bad or something? I worked so hard to get a Shiny Female competitive one and it took like maybe 1/4 of Azumarill's health away with Psychic and lost 3/4 of it's health to Waterfall. It's so cute, which is why I wanted it on my team somehow, but I'm not so sure now.

EDIT: Gah. How on earth did Diggersby outspeed my team while at the same time killing them in one hit. Even with Choice Scarf on his Attack power isn't too spectacular. I read somewhere that Smogon banned him. Why is that?

EDIT#2: Oh. Choice Scarf + Huge Power + Jolly. No wonder I lost.

Talon 05-15-2014 11:25 PM

Male Meowstic is decent as a support set since it gets the coveted Prankster ability, but even then it's usually tossed away in favor of Klefki in that regard. Female Meowstic is also outclassed in a Calm Mind/Sweeper role by Espeon since Espeon gets direct status immunity from Magic Bounce and a higher SpA stat, as well as good coverage options.

Diggersby isn't banned from OU, but it was banned from UU, the third highest tier behind OU and Ubers (though I don't really consider Ubers a tier).

I'm sorry, I just had to say that! xD

That's too bad. I was hoping I could add their adorableness on my team, but I suppose I can use them offline. Not really sure what to think of Diggersby. He's pretty hard to outspeed without someone else with Choice Scarf. Although there are several ways to take care of that. I'll find a counter measure for next time. What's a good hold item for Trick Room Reuniclus? Smogon suggests Life Orb, but I hate the whole idea of my life being sucked away every attack.

Sariss 05-17-2014 01:45 AM

Just because something sucks doesn't mean you can't use it. It's more fun tbh. I like using stuff like cacturne.

Talon 05-17-2014 03:41 AM

Reuniclus gets Magic Guard, it doesn't take damage from Life Orb. If you're going to use TR Reuni on your team you'll want at least two other TR setters who can function as sweepers. Gallade, Chandelure and Victini are killer under TR which they can set themselves. A good defensive setter would be Pory2 (don't know too much about TR, only have one team and I suck at it).

Also don't underestimate the damage from Life Orb; it's a 30% increase in raw damage - that's a lot.

Oh, and Espeon and Sylveon (aka 2 cutest pokemon) are actually really strong if you really want that. Sylveon is one of the greatest Special walls in the whole game alongside AV Tyranitar and the pink blobs, while Espeon gets the rare Magic Bounce which is an absolute godsend against hazards and status.

Yeah Sylveon can't be beat as a special wall. I usually just run Moonblast, Wish, Protect, and Healbell basically as a support poke. For some reason I usually see a Florges here and there, but Florges is outclassed by Sylveon pretty much.

Talon 05-18-2014 06:07 PM

Pixilate Hyper Voice is better than Moonblast. Hits through subs and does a lot more damage. Blissey and Chansey are better special walls, but the amount of versatility as a Wish passer and offensive presence Sylveon makes it better in most teams imo.

I did not know that. That makes him so much cooler. I have both Espeon and Sylveon, but Espeon isn't the right setup. Both are adorable though. I haven't really used Sylveon much yet though.

Today I did it... I completed my Pokedex of all 718 Pokemon. Received the Shiny Charm, Round Charm, and 4 Certificates hung in my character's room. It took a lot of trading, breeding, and catching, but it was well worth it.

EDIT: Also faced a guy today who triple battled me with Mega Latios, Diancie, Zapdos, Lugia, Mewtwo, and Kyogre. I surprisingly beat him, but was mad that he used two non-released things with a full team of legendaries against me.

Time to take a long break from this game. Rating battles are a lot different than Free Battles.

Vladamir Blackthorne 05-24-2014 08:25 PM

Just gonna say, IMO Powder is OP. I mean, it totally covers up Vivillon's obvious weakness to fire, and punishes those who hastily go for that fire move with out considering it.

Speaking of Vivillon, any collectors out there got a Monsoon Pattern? I'm looking to trade my local Vivillon pattern for it.

Liar. I have to get to 50 wins at Battle Maison, but it's rigged after 40. They start throwing legendaries in your face with items like Bright Powder and I never know which ones they're going to use. I've gotten between 40-50 three times now and I always lose to a legendary team. I don't know what to do anymore. I use:

Greninja @ Focus Slash/Life Orb
Nature: Timid
Ability: Protean
5IVs (-ATK)
Moveset: Dark Pulse, Grass Knot, Surf, Ice Beam

Overall a good lead Pokemon. I usually start out with Life Orb in the first 30 rounds or so and switch to Focus Sash when the enemies start getting faster and tougher.

------------------------

Garchomp @ Garchompite
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Rough Skin
6IVs
Moveset: Dragon Claw, Fire Fang, Rock Slide, Earthquake

Garchomp helps a lot against electric types so that's mainly why I use him.

------------------------

Scizor @ Choice Band
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Technician
5IVs (-SP. ATK)
Moveset: Bullet Punch, Swords Dance, X-Scissor, U-Turn

Scizor always saves my ass against wall Pokemon that have the fewest weaknesses and from that pesky Weavile which is why I love him.

tl;dr I don't know what to do against these legends. My team was fine up until that point.

Talon 05-26-2014 10:29 PM

Which legends?
