We are getting affected though. Carbon tax affects me and my family, and it's the governments fault, so I should be able to vote (if it makes sense)

Um, most restrictions placed on people under 18 are for their own benefit.
Reversing these laws would do more harm than good.

In all seriousness, some teenagers don't mature enough to be trusted with extra rights. Driving? I don't think that will turn out so well.

Kids and teenagers have all the rights they need. I'm sorry, but I'm not letting ill-informed minors vote for our country, drink, have legal sex, etc. There aren't any rights that kids and teenagers require that aren't already given to us. What more can we need? Or even want for that matter?

Clown 07-28-2013 08:48 AM

Give kids MORE rights? That's one of the things spoiled teens bs about to get out of trouble;
"I have a right to speech";
"You can't tell me to shut up";
"I can go home because I have a right to shelter".
It's annoying as fick.

Most teenagers (especially this generation) are dumbass kids, who's minds are wrapped around marijuana, and sex. If they were given the right to vote, all hell would break loose. Most of them won't mature until 21+.

If given the right to vote they would probably choose not to exercise the right to vote like most younger people do.

Are you implying that most teenagers are like this? I'm not, and I won't ever be. None of my friends are, and I hope no one on this forum is either. Besides, just because there is a rotten apple in the bag it doesn't mean the rest are rotten as well.

I know most of us are under 18 here but I would like to discuss this topic. Do you think that children/teenagers should get more rights (legally)?

No, just no.

Your parents sound like mine. My solution was talkback... I took control and told them I'm old enough to handle myself. I'm 13.

Wow your a rebel 13 yr old aren't you. I actually cannot wait till you get yourself into crap (thinking you know everything as little kids do) and need your parents to help you. It would be great if they talk backed to you then.

Nope you shouldn't, suck it up. And I'm sure the tax doesn't affect yours as much as me, my electricity for my coffee shop is now at 1.4K per month. No mater who your vote for they won't change it anyway so I'm still not getting your point.

Yes but on my way to work nearly every teenager I come across is doing something stupid or immature. It's not 1 rotten apple in a bag it's the whole bags rotten and 1 is good.

How old are you by the way? I need to get a clearer picture on your age group.

Johnaudi 07-28-2013 02:11 PM

Teenagers have way too many rights, and you're asking for more?
The society should actually limit those rights.

Jester Lapse 07-28-2013 02:31 PM

If anything, minors need more restrictions, not rights.

Furryamigo 07-28-2013 03:11 PM

Teens wouldn't be able to handle more rights lol. It is not a long wait until you are 18.

Scaal 07-28-2013 03:19 PM

My parents always told me the same thing growing up.
"Act like a adult, and you will be treated like a adult."

in other words, be mature and people will trust you with more "rights"

PerfectDark 07-28-2013 03:45 PM

The rights of minors is fine the way it is. It is like being hired, you start out with lesser privileges.

A right some you didn't know of is at the age of 17, you can donate blood which you nessessarly do not need consent from your guardian.(U.S)
