Remember that becoming staff isn't a popularity contest. Don't shy away from applying because all the "well-knowns" are. I personally would rather a generally unknown person as staff than a server-wide "popular" person, as those who are hired and are well known tend to show off their power more. And I would dare to say other current staff members think the same. So take a risk and good luck!
