Finding water in the soil is, though... but I don't think it's exactly exciting for any sort of purpose of a source of water. Like it's been said, the polar caps themselves have been known to be water for a while, and they'd most likely provide way more water than extracting it from soil.

The poles can probably provide more water, but this water is likely to be found all over the planet, rather than being limited to two areas. The poles themselves are interesting, but areas like Olympus Mons, the second highest mountain in the Solar System, are closer to the equator - and now we know there's a possible source of water for us there, too. That's what is exciting about this, I think, and why I chose to share it.
Everyone finds things exciting and interesting at different levels, though :P
