There is no actual use for it right now, it's just detail.
I can see about some things being added like shops temporarily closing, but it's on way too short a cycle for that right now. It also transitions too fast. :(

Perhaps have baddies or aliens invade at night? Alien Invasions disable and instead you fight aliens for money?

There should be a world clock that shows the time of day in Zone (since it moves quicker than real time)

Sun or Moon or no Sun or Moon, the horizon should be some kind of bright orange yellow color

When it is sunset/sunrise make it less red and more yellow. Plus, smoothen the transitions.

This has been on Era for a while, I personally have never used it so I'm not too sure if it works in a similar way.

I'd say it'll get better in the future i'm hoping that is because its a little annoying with the colors but its fine for now.

We added a little clock to show what time it is, we also expanded the days/smoothened the transitions.
