The only issue I have while playing Graal on my iOS device is when I've been playing for a while and then I wash my hands (for whatever reason). When I come back, the screen just doesn't feel right. It gets kind of slippery and I'm unable to use the controls with the same level of finesse I'm used to.

Never played Graal on PC. I'd imagine it would feel weird given that I'm so used to playing it on my iOS device.

I play by PC and I was being lazy once before and wanted to PK at MoD using my SNES controller (holding it is just more comfortable), and after about 5 minutes my thumb was sore as hell
not sure how I played the NES and SNES so much as a kid

Think the NES or SNES controllers are bad? The Nintendo64 had my thumb swollen for days. Not like I'd play Graal with a N64 controller tho.

Yeah the N64 controller can be merciless. Especially if you played the original Mario Party. Those control stick-rotating mini-games. Very painful on the hands.

I still remember getting a really bad bruise from the gamecube controllers. Now before you say anything, if you were like me who played a lot of video games then you'll probably remember how the rubber part of the joystick would tear away. Once the rubber that once completely covered the mesh of the joystick has torn away, the joystick was presented with sharp edges so you were forced to play with this, unless you bought another controller. This newly shed joystick caused many unjoyable experiences yet fun gameplay. I didn't start to notice the pain until I had actually went off to bed(because gameplay was fun, duh).

I doubt most people here played the original Mario Party because you're all young, but the rowing minigame actually gave me bruises on my palm that made it hard for me to hold my pencil in class a few times

Everyone mentions Mario party, but I got all my fat thumbs from playing 99 stock SSB. Damn joystick broke half way through my first play through of OOT, preventing me from running in a straight line. Zig-zaging through the rest of the game was not fun.

Mistook my left thumb swelling up for "building thumb muscle". Now all I have to worry about is carpal tunnel l0l.

Yup, I remember this. There were a few mini-games that involved the control stick rotating. Another brutal one was the single player game where you needed to pedal the cycle to light up the light bulb to keep the Boo away. I remember destroying my hand trying to get past the level in the single-player mini-game mode (that fun mode that was exclusive to the first Mario Party). Not only that, but it totally stripped off the paint on the area around the control stick. Fun times.

I never broke my stick, but yeah I'd heard there were many reports of broken joysticks (see above post).

yeah, the tug-o'-war game also required rotating
bruised my palms and loosened my joystick, it never broke it but after a while it would not sit centered and would lean slightly to a side

LOL this was blister hell! There were a few other minigames that did that as well, but this one was the worst. I believe Nintendo actually offered gloves to play the game with to minimize blisters and bruises. Then in the second game every game like that was removed. hahaha

yurhomi 09-13-2014 03:43 PM

Cast away minigame also had that rotating joystick thing. The minigame wasn't really focused around that particular movement of the joystick, only when you had to reel in the treasure you found

MrSimons 09-13-2014 05:44 PM

Huh, thats weird, whenever I play Graal the only pain that I have is a deep emotional pain.

Lol you act like we're all 10 or something, the game isn't that old and we aren't that young. Of course I remember this rowing game, I got a bunch of bruises from it. Another one that gave me bruises was the pedaling one where you had to move the joystick around to make a light and avoid getting eaten by the Boo.

I used to play it all the time at my cousin's house and always choosing either the Yoshi Island world or the Princess Peach Cake world.

Narcosis 09-13-2014 09:51 PM

Nintendo learned their lesson. That's why the rotating control stick mechanic was removed from Mario Party 2 (arguably the best game in the series). Though, to be fair, I had tons of fun with Mario Party 3 (I loved the mode where you played as the enemy characters and the goal was to defeat your opponent. No mini-games, no stars. Just quick turn-by-turn gameplay. And each of the characters had different abilities. I also loved Game Guy (the shy guy gameshow host. That was always fun). 4 was a let down IMO. But I recall 5 being enjoyable. After that they all just seem to blend together in my memory. Each one had a new gimmick, but they were really all the same. They just milked the hell out of the series at this point.
