It's a pretty clear cut case of power abuse and favoritism. Monkey is an iEra staff member, and seeing as iEra and Ol' West's staff teams are pretty close knit (sharing a few of the same staff members), he could have either gotten staff rights on Ol' West (which I doubt is the case, though it's highly possible) and done it himself, or asked a friend to do it for him (the more probable likelyhood).

Either way, your friend got cheated out of his gang because someone else had the connections to do so. A staff team won't readily admit to corruption or mistakes, so don't expect any refund...or help for that matter.
