Dang it's not a hard concept to grasp. Yeah, you're intending to be mean, but it isn't fair that a marginalized group gets caught in the crossfire of your attempt to do so.

My grandmother died of cancer less than a month ago. Cancer affects a larger percent of people. I still like "cancer" jokes.

its the internet, nobody cares

no matter who you are if you can't take the heat, get out the kitchen!

political correctness is dumb and you people need to stop. Anyone with a right mind do not think less of people are autistic, mentally challenged, homosexual, or any sort of term that is used as an insult. It's meant to piss off the person you're trying to insult.

The real undesirables are not the people who use words to insult a person who is physically and/or mentally normal, they're the ones who actually who would do those people harm. Please, **** off.

What if you was using these 'insults' on the Internet, without knowing if the other person was one of the above?

Then it goes from insults to facts? It doesn't change anything. pls stop with this political correctness bull****. it's getting up there with current day feminism. Besides, I'd rather be condemning the real assholes, instead of trying to shame someone for stupid things they do on the internet for the sake of political correctness.

What if Hitler had a sex change, won world war 2 and claimed the victory day as Autistic Day? Ifs do not help you.

My friend is autistic and uses it as an insult himself.
It's the same as calling someone a f**got. The person using the insult isn't actually calling you gay, he's just trying to insult you.
If someone were to say f*** you, would you perceive it as someone saying "sex you" or as an insult.
Almost everyone would see that as an insult, not the literal meaning.

Someone who is mean enough to tell you that you're an autistic ****** probably does not care about marginalized groups, that's the concept I'd like you to grasp.

It's like when Tumblr feminists go into their rants about how Suzy didn't deserve to be raped just because she was wearing revealing clothing. Shocking revelation! The problem is that you're trying to be rational and reasonable with a rapist. They don't give a damn. They're going to do what they do just because that's who they are.

Telling people not to use _____ as an insult triggers the Streisand effect, because you're basically telling them which insults are the best and most effective ones.

Mean people generally don't care about marginalized groups, that's the concept I'd like you to grasp.

But if you were autistic, suddenly it would be a big deal.

Sigh, so much ignorance in these forums. @MrSimmons why is it fair to call someone "autistic" as if it's a bad way? Call them something else. I didn't really make this thread to suddenly change the world, because I am aware that people wouldn't really care, but there's a ton of people who use these words and don't even understand the context of it.

@twilit When you say something like "this thread is like cancer" you are using the actual word "cancer", which isn't a person and is a horrible thing all together. But when you say "this thread is as bad as a cancerous person", then it gets offensive because you are marginalizing an actual person stricken with a terrible disease as if it's something offensive. Same here: it isn't about the word "autism", but rather "autistic".

PumaD 05-09-2015 02:14 PM

this thread gave me autism and cancer. thanks.

My cousin suffers Autism yet he calls a lot of people ******s. It really is up from person to person, I don't mind being called a ******, neither does my autistic cousin. If you suffer it and you can't endure it.., that's your personal problem. It isn't nice to cuss people at all, I agree and everyone should be respected, but meh, welcome to the internet.

autistic nerds

5hift 05-09-2015 03:24 PM

Stfu weaboo nerd with animated avatar.

Nobody cares about what you say.

Gawwwwd.

Am... Am I doing it, guys?

And for the record, as someone who's lived beside a person with autism* for their entire life, I can guarantee you that her being called autistic does not offend me, her or any one else.

She has autism and that's that.

If I were called autistic, I'd call BS and immediately stop caring about that person all together.

MementoJoker 05-09-2015 03:27 PM

it's just banter

5hift 05-09-2015 03:34 PM

If you're trying to call a person autistic without making everyone around you secretly hate you, don't call the person autistic but a person with autism.
