Agreed to an extent, though if its a uni like LSE or Brunel it's probably worth it (especially if you students get a free Oyster for bus travel or something along those lines).

I'm from London and wanted a change of scenery, so im at Bournemouth and just finished first year!

Jesus, whats up with all the weird british names.

I'm hoping to get into Oxford/Cambridge/Hardvard (extremely unlikely but I like to aim high). Otherwise I'll just go for University of Melbourne, Monash, or UNSW

UCLA for electrical engineering!

Fellow engineer

I thought it would be worth mentioning that if you're planning on being self employed, entering Ivy League is practically useless. In fact, a lot of the stuff they teach you in business school isn't going to get you past owning a local business. If you're planning on going big, like Apple or Hewlett Packard big, creativity is essential. Creativity isn't teachable, but it is learnable. (random note of the day)

ITT people trying to sound knowledgable about college with out having experienced it.

TWIZ 06-10-2015 04:16 PM

I never said I was knowledgeable about college, just about the opinions of others.

What? How is one "knowledgable about the opinion of others"? Notice the key word in there is opinion...

So you know what's best for someone because you believe your opinion holds more merit than some one else's on a matter that neither of you are too experienced with? If he wants to go to an Ivy League school, then more power to him. That's a hell of an accomplishment and he doesn't need you trying to sway his opinion with random nonsense that you pulled from your ass.

Hey, you're right. I would congratulate someone who has made that astounding feat, as I probably don't have the capability to do so. As for running a large company, the last time I checked, creativity isn't taught in college. I'll have you know, there's a difference between being an entrepreneur and a business man. And although, as you stated, "opinion" definitely is a key word.

You still need to have an education in business practices and operations to run a business successfully which is where the business school would come in. You can't run a business solely off of creativity. Also you're contradicting yourself. In this post you say creativity can't be taught yet in your previous post you say creativity is learned.
