Depends on what you want.
Stock android is great, but personally I flash ROMS. TouchWiz is also great with tons of features, but the ones you never use will bog down your system. Speaking of ROMS, the Nexus 6P can actually get them since it's open source unlike the S6 Edge. As for speed, don't worry about that... 99% of apps on the app store will be running smoothly on any android made in the last 3 years really. The only reason why the Samsung phones seem faster than other ones(in theory they are but it's never visibly seen during operation) when opening apps is because they can retrieve faster files from their system. I haven't yet tested the S6 Edge and SDCards, but because not all data will be saved on the device I expect slower app openings(if they are saved on the card) because it would have to search a wider range. As for the screens, basically identical at this point, but the S6 Edge may seem better under a magnifying glass, so keep that in mind if you plan on using any VR sets like Cardboard or the Samsung View. Bluetooth and Connection wise, they are the same on those fronts- with the 6P having more international band supports. Fngerprint sensor wise, it depends on you. Personally I do like having it on the front. The 6P can definitely open faster than the Samsung, however. Speakers- 6P shreds it. It even comes with a better audio system so yea, there's really no comparison. In terms of looks, I really dislike the Edge because I just don't like edged displays. I have one on my Priv and had one on my Nubia, they just don't really look good unless they are bezeless(or give it off as they are such as the Nubia). The S6 edge was still one of their trial edges, this years S7 definitely makes it better, but the bezels around the edge are ewww. The bumper on the 6P however is really nice. My m8 has one and it looks great when you put a case on it since it literally looks like it's a futuristic device. Let's see... what am I missing? Oh. In terms of future proofing, while the S6 Edge might have a better processor, the fact that it will get worse XDA Support, no USB-C(fr samsung, why no add on s7. nubs), and in general that people can recognize it more, it will seems older and older as time goes by. If possible I'd wait for some of the mid ranged androids this year since even the SnapDragon 652 is better than the 810(6P), or even wait for the high end ones( the 820 is literally twice as fast as the 810). Plus even Samsung is using the 820 instead of the exynos in america, so that should say something in performance. Again, wouldn't make a difference between overall speed, but it would help. Oh and speaking of memory- keep in mind that the 6P and the S6 Edge don't come with SD Support so what you get is what you get. The 6P would definitely be able to rock out more space though do to stock android. But the S6 Edge would give you more options to be able to optimize it. oh and RAM memory would really only help if you're like playing highly intensive games, and as a graalian I kind of assume you don't do that very often sooo. Oh and price is a huge thing too. For the price of the S6Edge you could get a 6P with a case, a screen protector, and then maybe like two tickets to see a movie. Then you use that phone to take a snapchat at the movie. then you get sued for not having the rights. then you cri. Real talk, get the Xiaomi Mi5. Google it. |

I was pissed when I found out they discontinued Sony's line of phones on T-Mobile and Verizon. |

My bad, let me rephrase.
The S7 has a locked bootloader. While there are ways to get around this, the Exynos chips aren't open source. So yes, you can flash things. Nothing will be really optimized however since developers can't really modify things already in the system. One example of this is how usually on Cyanogen MOD their camera replaces the stock one, but on the Exynos SoC, it just adds another one. Idk if I said this above, but if customization is really your thing but really want the power, wait for the S7. It should come with Snapdragon 820 chips and QualComm even encourages flashing stoof. I wouldn't doubt that the S7 comes locked however, since the bigger companies tend to do that as they know people unlock them, which voids warranty, and they ezpz money because then they aren't in the loop of having to pay people back. @Twiz, the Z5P was just a battery hog. Even with cardboard you can't tell a difference between 4K and 2K. Anybody who says they can is hyped up on placebo since your eyes can barely see 2200ppi, assuming you have perfect vision- which is impossible as your eyes deteriorate after being made. It also now runs a slower 810. Again, nothing wrong with it- but there are a lot cheaper options with better specs. Like i said though. Xiaomi Mi5 Pro is going to sweep up this year. |

like 40% of the time i unlock it, it will freeze for 4-5 seconds. contact names dont show up when its connected to my car's bluetooth (it only shows numbers). my LTE signal is really weak, not sure if its my provider or the phone itself. people claim that the middle button/fingerprint scanner stops being responsive (i havent had that problem yet). |
welp there was a patch for oxygenos, ill let you know if the ****ty things are fixed @emera

I think I'll go with the 6p. One last question, is it good for gaming? Or will it give me problems with bs lag. This isn't a need, but I need to know what I'm buying here.

Will older chips take longer to load up apps? Yes. Will there will be a frame drop or two every minute? Yes. But that's something that's expected, especially when you attempt to push out that many pixels continuously. If you want a smooth buttery experience you should get a potato phone. Max screen resolution of 2ppi. In terms of speed the Note 5 kills the 6P. Or yea. For now. Actually I never brought this up. "High end" companies add random crap to their systems so they get slow over time. It forces people to get new phones. They cheeky scumbags. You can expect Samsung to do this(actually some random bloat has already been spotted in the marshmallow update) but Google tends to steer away from it. |
