They released these videos and new footage right before they revealed the Nintendo Switch, it will be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch so I'm hoping they have a special edition for it

I kinda wanna buy this

If they turned that black cloak part into a hoodie with the design on the back and around the hood, I'd buy the crap out of it.

There's like 90 minutes of footage from IGN playing it, I think watching gameplay ruins the fun but I can understand why'd you wanna see it

Well sure, it does seem like they showed a ton of content at E3, but then they put in perspective and say theyre really only showing a tiny part of the whole world. They showed a lot of gameplay basics because theres a lot of new concepts to show that are very different from the rest of the series. You dont get a permanent primary sword/weapon; it doesnt seem like you get additional heart containers; there are multiple ways to solve problems; the whole concept of survival seems pretty important; and they wanted to show you can do pretty much whatever the hell you want.

So far there are 4 Amiibo figures you can use in BotW, with 3 of them being released at launch.

The "Archer" provides Link a bow when activated.

The "Guardian" is an enemy from the game and it's unsure of what it will do.

The "Rider" will provide Link a horse when activated.

"Wolf Link" provides Link with the wolf version of himself and helps him hunt, this amiibo figure came out with Twilight Princess so you can order it now.

Throughout the world there are over 100 Shrines of Trials which feature tons of puzzles, traps, and hidden items. There is no particular order in which you have to complete them.

Ive never touched anything to do with the WiiU, so I honestly dont know much about Amiibos. Ive seen the gameplay videos for wolf link amiibo; But is there a limit to how much you can use Amiibos? I mean can you continuously resummon wolf link every time it dies with no setback? Is the archer amiibo just going to give you an unlimited supply of free bows with no cooldown?

Hopefully the scale of the game wasn't at the expense of dungeons. Quality > quantity imo, and I'd rather some large fleshed out dungeons than a 100 short mini dungeons.

I'm not entirely sure, haven't used them before either.

They will still have large dungeons you need to complete, Link has been awakened to defeat Ganon in BotW and we will see a lot of story play out about it.

The trials are just content you can do while exploring which is why they are spaced out all around the map and in different environments.

Environments and weather play a huge role in this and you'll require different outfits and tools to contend to each environment.

Breath of the Wild is going to bring a lot of new life to Hyrule and that's why we have a lot of exploration available to us (paraglider, mounting climbing, etc)

Which I also worry about. I hope the micro-management isn't too overbearing. I'm not a fan of durability in games as well as hunger and such. I don't want to have to carry 20 different weapons because they constantly break while not being able to take walk without constantly having to side-track for food so I don't starve.

I have faith, but I just hope it doesn't just become a giant inventory manager game.

Colin 10-25-2016 09:05 PM

There's no hunger system, food is just a way for you to heal after fighting or losing HP.

It's very easy to gather and stock up on.

There is a stamina system in place similar to how using the bow on Classic works and restores its self, as well as stamina boosts both temporary and permanently.

For things that break, they are stackable and only take up one spot(pretty much every item is stackable).

I get the concern with weapons, but so far we've only seen the basic easy-to-get weapons like wooden objects which are easily obtainable in combat at the start so you don't need even multiple of them as you can often replace them after a fight.

As you progress you get much better weapons that last a lot longer, apparently there is even weapon and equipment upgrades that come later on in the game.

Colin's last 2 posts

That's comforting to know that there's still going to be big dungeons as well as better stuff later on that doesn't break too easily. My biggest concern is the open world tbh. Don't get me wrong, I love open world games. One of the biggest reasons i got so excited for botw was because of it's open world, but I just kinda hope that not everything is immediately available for the sake of having that feeling of progression. I kinda hope i have to work my way through the story or something before i can go to Death Mountain rather than being able to go there immediately from the beginning (or at least some parts of it are closed off until later). I mean it's not THAT big of a deal I guess but it just wouldn't feel very zelda-y being able to travel where ever i wanted to go right from the very beginning. But you did mention certain outfits you'd have to wear to get to other places so that's something.

Colin 10-25-2016 10:17 PM

You are free to progress anyway you want.

Theoretically you can go wherever you want you could even confront Ganon early on, the world is open for you to choose how you wish to go about it.

Now, just because you can doesn't mean you should - because if you try to fight Ganon early on you'll obviously lose.

What they wanted to do was leave it open to the player to decide how they wish to undergo their journey, this also applies in dungeons.

The typical formula for Zelda games was unlocking an item and needing to use that to complete the next dungeon and so on as well as needing to do them in a certain order, this isn't how they went about BotW they made sure puzzles had multiple solutions and it all depends on the player how they choose to solve it and the order in which they do them.

So that means you dont have to complete dungeons in any kind of order? you can go to any one you want to? If that's the case then are some dungeons harder than others or are they all the same level of difficulty? It's kinda neat but not 100% on how i feel about it...I guess we'll see when the game comes out.

Colin 10-26-2016 02:19 AM

I'm not really sure.

The thing about BotW is that its item system is much different than any other Zelda game, typically Zelda follows a linear pattern with how you obtain items which also affects how you approach dungeons and creates an order to it because you were required to use certain items to complete a dungeon but that no longer applies.

I'm guessing they all have different difficulties but so long as you have decent items and general skill in the game it's possible to do them however you please.

What we have with the Sheikah Slate (one of the main items which you get at the start) are rune abilities obtained through Shrines of Trials that can vastly change how you play the game and go about doing dungeons/fighting.

We've seen 4 runes so far:

The Cryonis Rune allows Link to create ice pillars in the water in order to make his way to otherwise inaccessible terrain.

The Magnesis Rune, which lets Link grab and lift metal objects from afar, such as a chest sitting at the bottom of a lake.

The Round Bomb, a round bomb that can be summoned repeatedly (after a short cooldown).

The Statis Rune, which gives Link the ability to lock objects in place and manipulate them.

This is such a different experience we'll just have to wait and see.

Part of the story is not only defeating Ganon but because there is a 100 year gap before Link is awakened we gradually learn what everything is and why it's become the way it is.

Coco 10-26-2016 02:54 AM

Yeah I'm really looking forward to the story. Everything seems so ruined making me really curious as to what happened.

Sardon 10-26-2016 03:06 AM

I like using different swords but Im wondering if the master sword will be in the game.

Open your eyes.
