Can you two lovebirds just stick to PMs?

The rest of us don't need to see this ****.

Anyways, these are the kinds of things I dabble in:

I love the incredible detail that these things have. Really makes me wish I just had a crap ton of parts that I could use to make something of my own.

Those bionicles and minifigs look awesome, it would be amazing if someone were to make models of those titans from the game titanfall in lego because that would look great.

Quit playing with legos when I was 12 for social reasons although I must say those were the good days.
I used to play with legos day and night back then and make up my own adventures.

The detail in those pics are amazing... does the third picture actually get made into Lego or does it just stay as concept art?

So, I've gotten 300$ from Christmas and I've been looking for what to buy, I'm a pretty big fan of Legos (Yea whatever Lego advises they should be called Lego Models or Lego Construction Bricks but who cares) and I saw this. The Temple Of Airjitzu. I've never been a fan of ninjago until recently when I started noticing the buildings. This thread is mainly me wanting to see your opinions. I know it's a waste of money but who cares? It's Lego.

I remember when I was younger I use to always get the Lego sets and have tons of fun building them, brings back a lot of good memories! If you're really into Lego and it makes you happy, you may as well get it! :)

Tbh i reckon now that you're a teenager try buying something for yourself that isnt really a toy. If u need new shoes buy them, growing out of shirts, buy more and if u dont need anything save it for something bigger that u might get down the line such as a gaming pc or something u'll use on the daily.

Lego imo is a waste....my little brothers get it and i build the large things for them and i agree its stimulating and quite enjoyable at the end to see what u created but that goes away in 5 mins and id never buy lego for myself.

Is it worth spending $200 on something that you will enjoy for a day and then just sit there afterwards?

I suppose it all comes down to how much of a hobby it is to Galen and how much fun he's expecting to get out of it. In the end you do make a good point though, $300 can definitely be spent on other things like shoes, clothes, etc. but it just depends if he wants to spend it on that or maybe he's already got new stuff =P

I agree I don't like legos but it's not a waste of money if someone will use it and appreciate it. Wouldn't a gaming PC be a waste of money considering its only a game? Adults shouldn't be playing games when they could be buying practical things like shirts, right?

They're the real deal.

Every one of those in that pic is made using real plastic.

Just comes down to him making the decision of how much enjoyment will he get from $200 worth of lego vs saving for something bigger which he may be able to use a lot more frequently and enjoy that every time (wether that be a bike, gym set or gaming pc)

Pimpsy G. 01-30-2017 08:43 PM

I think it comes down to how much budget you have for entertainment and how you're willing to divide it up. For example, I don't buy many video games and only play a handful of stuff over and over (rocket league, battlefield 4, GTAV) so i dont spend much money there. And the only other thing I do in my free time is draw or watch TV so I have a good amount of money in my entertainment budget that I dont really use so I use it to go balls deep in lego.

Also I'm weird and still play with lego even though I'm 22 lol so it doesn't just sit on my shelf

5hift 01-30-2017 08:45 PM

And keep in mind, you can always take these things apart and build something completely new.

Or you can completely break the boundaries and mod pieces like I did.

It's one hobby vs the other. Why does it matter???
