you dont have to join the lag fest - be happy about less lag somewhere else. and

It's tough to do this when some admins (Casper) say something will be given or happen at the party, and someone, myself, does not want to miss said "something" or giveaway.

But the various projects, instead of focusing on one at a time, are what is bothering players such as myself.

staff randomly get up with ideas or plan to create some stuff players suggested which is ending up with GFXs/LATs just creating it when they are bored (also posting stuff on FB or creating threads on here to get hopes up) and waiting for scripters to script it, while we have to do some other stuff.

I don't mind the cluster of content. I'm just unsatisfied with leaking. My last post might have gone unnoticed as we all posted simultaneously. Check page three at the bottom.

Ah, I understand now, I didn't look at it like that.

I find that players only recognize an update when it is grouped together as a large offering. It's a shame because if you release something every now-and-again (like you are suggesting) they totally overlook its value. On Classic people only seem to view entire town releases as updates

Higbey 11-11-2012 01:44 AM

or maybe if i ever do get my iron grip on a server i could turn graal around and give players what they deserve.

Jester Lapse 11-11-2012 01:44 AM

seems to me like you need to hire more scripters. You also said there is stuff ready, just tell me why we can't get a great update every month instead of waiting 6-8 months for something that is advertised as fantastic.

Are there any games that provide 'great updates' on a monthly basis?

not true, big towns and stuff just get abandoned, you need to keep a constant stream of content, a actual story, a river to feed players, not tsunamis every 3 months.

that's the thing though, era players are different. They litterally get satisfied with the release of a new gun or two every other month. That is the extent of a great update. It's just that it has been that way for about 2 years now, with the inclusion of the every now and then "wow" update (zombie mini game, new bases, new zones, new events, etc) It is just over done, and people are just bored with it now.

Well, that may be how it is on classic, and it may be this way for some people on era. But for me and some others, constant updates is what makes (made) era fun from its release.

It is possible with Graal. I have been on several Developing teams, and each of them work their asses off and there is something new every 3 weeks or so, done and ready (iDelteria, Shaded Legends, iZone).

minecraft weekly snapshots,

and some of the plans for servers in progress include steady streams of content, events in the game, scripted things happening, attacks on towns, wars, monsters, lost treasure, diplomatic relations with kingdoms (GRAAL POLITICS ON A WHOLE DIFFERENT LEVEL) and QUESTS THAT ARE UPDATED AND CONNECTED TO A STORY

I think you're wrong. If you plan out what there is to do per town, you can make those special features town specific, so players will come and go for specific reasons.

I am for releasing cluster content, but I think guns should be separate and special, unless they're town/theme specific.

XENA* 11-11-2012 01:51 AM

funny, how are we supposed to get more scripters on a game where you have to pay2learn? most players get distracted by that and step over to gfx and stuff where they dont need to pay or dont need graal.
it is not up to me when stuff is released, its still the managers job. and i never advertised something as fantastic, neither did i claim it to be a fail. here we are again - player making up stuff which hasnt been said.

minecraft weekly snapshots,

Minecraft groups its updates together and releases them a few times a year. That is a really bad example.

failure 11-11-2012 01:53 AM

It would be hard to constantly keep updating a game, but every few weeks they should have some sort of chain of updates each week. Kind of like how era does holidays like Halloween and Christmas: update a day at a time until a certain point, then die down for awhile until the next holiday. Except on a larger scale, like every week or two.
My problem is the lack of updates (not Halloween related).

We all have our own opinions. This is a good debate, let's not send it into a full out flamewar. Relax.

Thunderstorm 11-11-2012 02:01 AM

There's no point in this thread except to join in and bash on the Era Staff now. Yes they're not doing this that, blah, blah, blah, we know that already and it's been like this for a while now, if you really had a problem with the lack of content, then why are you still here reading this post?

Welcome to the iGraal.

Also, Callimuc, why are you engaging in this topic? It was obvious bait for a flame war at the very start. Notice how you're the only one representing Era iPhone Staff here?

Pimpsy G. 11-11-2012 02:01 AM

I was pretty much done with pimpsys buns minus the scripts, I mean you can make all the graphics and tiles you want but what I found when I worked on iera was that it was really, really hard to get a group of people to work together on one project. Everyone had their own little side projects with a couple others helping periodically.

Snapshots aren't updates, but prereleases/beta releases of updates. The only reason snapshots exist are for modders/artists to get a head start on updating their mods/texture packs. Most of the time snapshots aren't even stable enough to run a server with.

In fact Minecraft went like an entire year or so with only an update every couple of months... and most weren't very well received and lacked substantial content(they were bad enough to spawn mods like "Better than wolves"). It wasn't until Jeb was put in charge that updates picked up a bit.

Riot games now doesn't release information about an update until it is ready to be released. Why? Because they don't want to release information on something that might be changed or abandoned.

In the minority, it doesn't cost at all. In an overall, you're probably going to want to have an environment to test in, so you need to pay for Gold.

You can look up various guides for GS2 overall, though.

i think its about 3$ in the us. you can check several guides (sorry, but cant be bothered to get them all again) and learn it on RC (only obtainable with a gold subscription). when you are hired on an iPhone server, you wont have to pay for it anymore - you will get a free subscription
