You can on the current ya. I think I'd prefer a rail line that had one of those switches that players could hit and change the directions of the tracks and stuff. It's more interactive that way.

On a railroad, if one pushes the directional arrow in the opposite direction of their path, it turns around. I recall about a year or two ago (I can't remember too well) when I friend of mine had a split-off of in their railroad inside their guild house. When I held the directional key of the direction of the split-off before I reached it, it took that direction instead of continuing to go straight.

I seem to recall that it's possible, but I may be wrong.

you kind of could, depending on the direction of travel. atleast on g2k1

I know you can change/determine the direction you go, but he's talking about AFKing. If you're AFK, there's no way I can make the script force you to go in the direction of your destination.

  • I removed the pet shop because we are going to be using the fenced area in Onnet to sell pets. With them being on the world map I expect a higher quality of 'pet' to come out of it. Pets that look out of place won't have any place being on the world map. Additionally, the furniture shop was removed because it contained items that are in every other shop. The only furnture that isn't elsewhere were the overpriced beds, and they can fit into somewhere else such as MoD Town. The two cliffs that exist now have areas for killing baddies, which is something we are actually lacking in, but will have a bigger importance later on.
  • The adoption center might return due to just how many people are upset over it. I didn't actually intend on removing it though, it was just because it was a railroad path.

There, now please leave.

Events are sad now that you cannot get to Snowtown faster, I blame NAL. >_>

And even if they do, make it in a faraway island where the rest of us won't have to deal with it.

You didnt have to see the adoption center in the first place. As long as its not in the overwold, its okay.

Shaymus* 03-11-2013 05:00 AM

The draisine is automatically turning and driving itself.

I've never heard of rail tracks.

FUUUUUUUUUUUU!

Dusty 04-01-2013 10:33 PM

Sorry about the delay folks. The update will be a bit more than just some railways, but I won't divulge more than that. Hopefully it'll be worth the wait.

You should have hired dwarves to do the work instead of gnomes; they work faster and for less too.

Dwarves are only productive when they're drunk, and while they work for less in money it costs much more to keep them "productive." Also it's true, dwarves are much better at digging and producing quality metalwork; but gnomes are more intelligently inclined, thus will produce a better planned and thought-out system.

Ah yes, fair point; fair point. Also I do have to say dwarves do tend be more difficult to negotiate with when comes to labor talks with the unions.

If you follow their rules of hourly alcohol, they should be excellent at negotiating prices. You know what dwarves say, F**K THE WATER, BRING ME WINE!

hate to bump threads but i have a question...are there gonna be any changes to the railway system apart from the signs that was already mentioned?

Like what? The entire layout is being redone from scratch, including a pretty large underground cave system to house the stuff not visible on the overworld. If you mean the draisines or something, they'll probably remain largely unchanged. I have had to make a lot of background changes to them to work with the new stuff(like floating tracks) and stuff like that, but they'll be working exactly the same. I may tweak their speed to start slow, but accelerate up to a fast speed(faster than they currently go), but I am undecided on that.

ufoburan 04-26-2013 06:32 AM

i would like to see multiple routes or sets of tracks to make it faster/easier to get to desired area. also would be cool if there where a verity of draslines to choose from or different colored ones. im sure lots of players may not want to spend the gralats for a new one tho.

*Elderly voice* You damn kids have it so easy nowadays! Back in my day, we ain't have none of 'dem fancy-schmancy railway-ma-doo-hickeys or any of 'dem mounts! We had to walk miles and miles to get to wherever we wanna go. Lanterns had purpose in those days! >:|

*rambles on* Lousy ungrateful kids...>:|

Same here blueh, what's funny is as soon as railroads came out i spent 2 weeks memorizing every single rout and area the railroads took you to.

hey dusty one friend to another, please don't keep forcing the gnomes to make the tracks. thanks for fixing it :P

i hope to see the new and improved rail system soon. you know how much of a pain in the ass it is trying to get to snow town for an event and have to fight through a mob of 150 hat hungry noobs all killing the **** out of each other fighting to get into the one and only way into snow town right now? or having the same situation trying to get onto the chairlifts to belle island.

Dear god, I see many people flipping out about the railtracks being gone and demanding refunds...

It will be back. It was removed because the old system was horrible and in my opinion, useless since it was a maze just to navigate the track system. So I am going to completely redo the track system to hopefully make more sense, but it wouldn't have been possible to finish before the Spring update so it will be added back later and completely redone from scratch to make it more efficient and useful.

So please, be patient. Hopefully it will be worth the wait of going a few months or so without a draisine.

It's beyond just the draisine now. People whine when there's no actual content but when people try to actually make content people whine that it's not being done fast enough.

I'm just not sure why they would remove the old version before the new version is ready-it was very convenient.

Way too many twists and turns. Don't get me started on the Swamptown railroad where you had to go through a stupid loop before getting into the cave. The old railroad was an anaconda of twisted steel that contained areas that served no purpose. Sometimes it was faster to get to one place to another by walking than taking the railroad.

yeah, but you can talk/type while on the railroad or go afk for a minute.

It's hard to estimate because most of the hang-ups aren't content, but Graal not cooperating and working the way it should. It makes very simple things very difficult, scripting wise. This becomes more problematic when you need to take into account how scripts work on iPods(where scripts out of range aren't loaded) and there's also the fact I'm working on the Dev server, that is out of date(not just levels, but system scripts that interfere and interact with how things work). So ya, big headache. I don't plan to take much longer, but I won't insult you guys by throwing out false dates.

any chance we could see a variety of transportation for the rail road system in the future? or will it just be the draisaline? might be cool to ride the rails in different stuff. mine cart, a car, roller coaster cart, golf cart, a trolley that could be a 2 person rail cart.

Actually, for once I have to say he had a good idea. Draisine skins could be sold in Nexus, Rev, and Crypt, and (I know my friends are going to hate me for this one) could be given out with a VIP subscription.

However there may need to be separate Ganis for every skin.

Breezy 05-05-2013 02:04 AM

There's a graham cracker draisine skin

GOAT 05-05-2013 02:22 AM

I just dont get the point of the railroads. This is a bigger waste than making staff accept guild pics.
