Not singling you or anyone out I just wanna use this as a general example

I think one of the few things I envy about America is in education/when you're young, everyone is so optimistic, youre told you can be president/doctor/lawyer and you keep these things in mind

Here in the UK, its quite the opposite imo. We're very pessimistic about things like that, you won't find a Brit making a decision between doctor and lawyer, they may have passion for one or the other, but it will never be 'Gee I wonder what I should go for, medicine or law?'

I know some people like that over here as well. I've just been lucky to be pretty gifted academically up to this point, and *fingers crossed* if it continues through my undergrad then I'll have the option to choose. I'm hoping a passion for something develops at the moment but currently I don't feel any true calling for myself.

I did some coding a while back in C for robotics but I didn't really enjoy it too much. There's a chance I may try it again but idk I don't think it was for me.

Thanks for the advice! I don't know, I get really inspired when I listen to people play the piano but I'm honestly not that good. I'm bad at composition, since there are way too many rules that I always manage to break (I barely passed intermediate harmony). I just enjoy playing the piano when it sounds good and I get that satisfaction...might I also add that I have only played classical music up to this point, pop music rhythms confuse the heck out of me. Also my harmony teacher specifically told me not to go into music since there's barely a career path for it. I'm really confused on what I want to do honestly I don't even know what I want at this point.

That's the great thing about composition (if you get through the ****ty harmony) - when you know the rules you can just have fun breaking them all! Your harmony teacher sounds like a boring and lousy teacher (but then again, most of them are rly boring), there are loads of job opportunities if you know where to look. However, music can also be a really nice hobby and I think the most important thing is to have fun and enjoy music.

I want to do something with art, but have no idea yet. However, I'm pretty sure that it would be my minor. As for my major, i want to do something with business/math. I'm thinking accounting, but I'm still looking.

Update: I've decided to switch my major to Criminal Justice and minor in Psychology. I hope to work my way up the department to become a detective

I plan to study psychology. Specifically pediatric psychology. I'm only in 8th grade right now though so that could change.
