I don't understand the playerbase sometimes.

All I get from this thread is change is bad, we hate change, make it stop.

If all games never updated systems or added on content...new and better things would never get created. Instead of being instantly cynical and critical about new things, why not offer some criticism?

Instead of: This sucks, i hate it, i'm going to hide my head in the sand.
Say: I dislike this, it can be made better by *Reason*.

Let's have a look at the first page. You've given us three categories, "This is bad." "This is bad because..." "This is good (because)". Let's add a neutral category to the mix. All but one post on the first page fit into neutral, positive, or negative with explanation. Looking at the rest of the thread, it's much the same. Just because you expect to see and hear "This sucks, i hate it, i'm going to hide my head in the sand." doesn't mean anybody is saying it. The only "I hate this update" posts are coming from the same minority of people posting the same thing over and over.

iClassic had the most ass-backwards, clunky PM interface ever. And you wanna go back to that?

Yes, unless this one is improved. Really the only things I don't like are the "Loading..." message and thread PMs. Now if they end up creating a way to disable thread PMs then the people who don't like them wouldn't have to deal with them. Getting rid of the loading message along with this would make me a happy girl scout.

D-Vader 08-21-2012 01:50 AM

I like the new message system personally. History is nice, you can see how many pending messages you have, who is sending the next message, and they stay when you go offline. You guys just arent used to it yet. It'll grow on you.

I don't understand why people dont like the chat room based pm system. Thats fantastic, its so much easier to follow a conversation when someones talking to you since you can just scroll down and remember something they sent to you earlier instead of having to open up a drop down menu. Also, for the first time you can now see your own sent history. Thats the best part.

Higbey 08-21-2012 02:26 AM

People will get used to it. Let the bugs get fixed, accept change,

If alignment was added people would still complain, they will get used to it.

It's one of the many things I hate about human nature, they are upset by things that are different.

Psycher! 08-21-2012 02:27 AM

My opinion on the new system:
I like the displaying of heads and how many PMs I have on the little notification icon. It lets me see whether it's someone I actually want to answer to or just another noob asking for my hat. I can't say I don't like the thread PMs, since I haven't seen them yet and used them. Honestly, my only complaint is the "Loading..." thing, since it's just not aesthetically pleasing or smooth to have that there. Also, I hate loading screens. It took 11 seconds to load a message saying only "Lol", so I think that's also a problem.
I think this could be improved by removing the loading text. That is the only problem I've encountered with it so far.

Jester Lapse 08-21-2012 05:02 AM

I like era's pm system better ~

Nivag pls 08-21-2012 05:11 AM

Tbh, I'm fine with this update.

twilit 08-21-2012 05:12 AM

i like Rufus' ideas on pg1. To throw this in the mix, similar to how the option "hide guild chat" disables SENDING guild messages, there needs to be an option that disables RECEIVING guild messages. i hate spam k? especially when its all sexual or emo related.

ok so what exists currently:
-heads on inbox icon: eh....... sorta like it, sorta dont...
-number of messages in inbox: like
-font color for name of sender (green name=guild chat, red name=broadcast ect): eh whatever its ok.
-50 messages in history: like
-"player is offline and will get pm when he/she logs on" is now in message in inbox from "server": hate it. i preferred the blue popup boxes that told you stuff like that.
-another dislike: the coordination for message types was mixed up a bit. i mean your inbox icon was different colors for pms, guild messages, invites, broadcasts, events. now the icon for invites is the same color as events?:(

Ash Ketchum 08-21-2012 05:57 AM

I like it wtf is wrong with you noobs?

Ryan 08-21-2012 08:44 AM

Now you cant read guild messages in the history. Its really annoying and i hate this new system coz of it

Suggestions:
  • There needs to be options for automatically closing the pm once you've replied and whether or not you want to store/load chat history outside of the history button. With these, the new message system will seem no different from the old.

  • Should take this opportunity to change the "This player has blocked you", "This player does not wish to receive offline PMs" and "PMs from friends only" messages to appear when you press the message button. Currently they only appear once you've sent a message and this can be frustrating when you've just typed a long message out.

  • There also needs to be spam prevention which automatically locks you from sending messages when you're doing it far too fast and frequent, kinda like AIM used to do.

  • Disable HTML for non-staff, it looks cheap.

I'm a fan for all of these suggestions, but I don't like the display of previous messages. It looks kinda tacky.

Please do NOT change something that is completely fine again.

Criticism: new system takes longer to load messages and buggy -sometimes I get two loading messages after each other when only one person has pmed me.

scrap doing stuff to things that are fine, just for change.. and concentrate on quests, events and games to progress graal. We've waited far to long for game to progress in anyway, it's only just starting to be updated with new stuff.

P.s. Get stefan to release Remi and Marion's quests (That are Finished)
We have waited a year... the youtube vid said 'coming soon' x-x

They are not finished, they are not good, and they are never going to be released in their current state. Would be easier to start over on that one.

Then someones lying... As stefan said yesterday answering my pm saying something along the lines of 'they are complete and we will release part of it soon' seems to be no communication between staff also a massive flaw that won't progress graal.

Thanks, hows PC graal coming along?

Why would you think I care about the state PC Graal is it? Do you think that hurts my feelings? lol (ps why does it matter? Do you think iPhone Graal is better? Better ****ing thank the PC players for that because they're the ones who MADE iPHONE GRAAL)

This is the problem, players like you will whine about things and then try to justify your perspective with insulting points that just so happen to be way more ignorant than anything. You don't know what goes into the development aspect of Graal yet you're all so quick to cast judgement on development staff on how they do things. You have no god damn idea how priorities work, or the mindset of developing. It's not fun to grind the same damn work over and over.

Doing this message system doesn't mean quests and other content aren't being done. Yet another moronic stance players seem to take on with no justification other than some self-absorbed entitlement issue. Oh ya, and speaking of quest and content you guys just got one of the biggest and most polished content update in the past week and yet you STILL jump to whine that content development isn't being focused on.

But most importantly... all they were trying to do were make things better for players. Do you think they saw the message system and thought "man, I better **** that up and really make players miserable. That'd be so ****ing funny and worth the hours of effort put into changing it?" No. They saw the message system and thought "hmm, I wonder if I can make this better for players." Yet instead of being constructive and trying to tell them what can be improved little assholes like you insult their work(volunteer work, I might add) and tell them not to do things like try to improve anything EVER AGAIN and instead tell them "YOU BETTER ****ING MAKE ME QUESTS AND CONTENT AND DO WHAT I FEEL MAKES MY EXPERIENCE BETTER."

Thankless little pricks.

Anything else to add to that rant, obviously did bother you lol...

Anyways was just voicing my opinions on a forum, like he asked for constructive criticism I just said whats wrong with it in my opinion and what more people would like to see instead of wasting there time on stuff most won't be thankful for as most didn't want a new chat system over other stuff.
have a nice day anyways.

You think that a lengthy post means I care? Nah, I don't care about PC Graal(hint, I've done way more for iClassic in the last year than I have for PC Graal... not that I care about iGraal or this messaging system. I don't have that much of an emotional attachment to Graal).

But I did have a very strong urge to explain why I think you're a moron.

if you see some of my posts I don't always say 'I want this, I want that' I've actually said Nice job on the new place(mod town) and that I really like the bugnet and also said somewhere in forum that the development staff we have now are doing a good job and have faith in them to make the game better.
So Thanks for whatever you have done in iClassic, but they was no need for calling someone/me a moron for a post.

I don't see why you're biting the hand that feeds you though, you're attacking two people responsible for half the new stuff you see.

As a developer I'd rather have someone call me names on account of my ignorance than have a player come to me after I have just genuinely tried to improve their playing experience and tell me never to touch anything else again, to never try to improve anything for them again, and to go back to the grinding house and concentrate on content that "actually matters."

I wasn't meaning to attck anyone :/ I was just trying to point out stuff like that the message system, the messages now take longer to load than it did before... and then I must of rambled on about what I and most want in game.

Oh, I see what you mean now, I was just bit eager for more great updates, but as I know it takes time and effort..and was wrong to jump to conclusions of that they arn't making quests etc.. Idk why I did really lol I hardly even play anymore so wouldn't be that fussed if they didn't(but sure most who play would lol)

Its not new iPhone player always cry for news and when admins work their ass off they complain like always, personally I love the new message system but I would like to have guild in the history for the rest its pretty good :D

Tyler 08-22-2012 08:42 PM

Oh yeah one thing I'd like to add is it would be nice to have a skip button for things like friend requests, house invites, and guild recruits. Whenever I tap no sometimes I get a real jackass while if I skip they say usually say nothing at all. The only way to skip is by going back to a message from your history currently.

Blueh 08-22-2012 08:53 PM

Conversely, I wish it told the person it denied your friend request. You hear that PrincessAngel45? I denied your friend request. I denied your guild invite. And I'm sure as Hell, gonna deny your "Will do anything for gralats (except farm)" offers. I want them to know I said no! >:0 (lol that rhymed)

That would be a nice feature.

"Random Noob has added you to their friend list. Would you like to add them back?"

"Psycher! has denied your friend request, so please never PM him again. Ever.
