Anyone that spars "actively" but also uses a secondary account to avoid rating decrease should not be considered for any of these lists.

It makes sense if you want to have an account for the iDevice boards and one for the Facebook boards. Other then that it's silly.

Your rating on the Facebook boards does not affect your rating on the iDevice boards. I have two separate ratings on my one and only account, one for iPhone and one for Facebook. Typing the "showrating' command shows me the rating for the device I currently play on.

I'll continue to use alternate accounts until it's prevented, if it ever is.

I've complained about it many times before (even earlier in this thread). Too many times have I had some angry weirdo try sparring me from a brand new account, or even a negatively boosted account, for the sole purpose of trying to tank my score. So, rather than constantly complain about something that I'm not seeing being fixed, I've taken it into my own hands and I use them almost like insurance.

I gradually let my alts idle off the leaderboard anyway. The leaderboard is hardly even an accomplishment anymore. It is what you make of it. There is no reward or prize for it or anything.

I'll again try to save this thread despite GOAT's constant efforts to derail it with his butthurtery.

At the moment, I only see David and JaCk as part of the highest tier in sparring. After that, there's a huge decline IMO. The next rung on the ladder would be people like Comyt, ethereal mirage, Male, Clops, Winter, Quiondre, Kevin91, Vlad, etc. It was like that on PC for a really long time too, with Brett being better than everyone and leaving a huge gap in skill from #1 to #2.

Demrow can be pretty good if he keeps sparring and learns more of the players' tendencies. He's really the only name outside of the expected that I can see doing anything special at all.

the leaderboards don't mean anything and haven't meant anything for a long time. i decayed off of the #1 spot that i have been holding for how long now, 15 months? just to show how lame everyone underneath me is.

the top 3 currently consists of someone i have a legitimate 10-1 ratio against, someone who i recently crushed in a series who can no longer refer to himself as the best idevice sparrer, and someone who does nothing but head-on spam in his matches. all 3 of them either exclusively spar noobs or only spar early in the morning when nobody decent is on (exclusively sparring noobs). the worst part is that the leaderboard gives the false representation of them being better than #4, izumi, and #5, tae. nobody can best an idevice from US or Sage, there are reasons why these 3 aren't in our guilds.

even bu7maid made it into the top 5 on our inaccurate leaderboard, i promise you that he hasn't sparred somebody with a positive ratio once in the past year.

if i could think of a way to make the leaderboards finally represent how skilled a player is, i would post it here, but i honestly have no idea.

maybe:

- make it so only one account per IP can be on the leaderboard. this would prevent people from immediately rising to the #1 spot after sparring only 40 times on their noob account, prevent people like comyt (heheheheheh) from covering the top 5 with all of his accounts to show off his dominance, and prevent people from using another account to spar to avoid sacrificing their rating.

- assign staff members to watch over the spar arena and actually pay attention to boosters.

- count exclusive noob sparring as a form of boosting and let them keep their wins and losses but kill their rating. sparring 10 negative ratios in a row should automatically clear somebody's rating completely. by implementing this feature, boost7maid would be nowhere to be seen near the big names on the leaderboard.

- make it so those who have stabilized their rating to under /80 have to spar at least 50 people a week. this would remove hoarders from the leaderboard and force them to sacrifice their score. if you cant stay at a high position, you don't deserve that high position. 50 people per week is pretty lenient too, that's what? 7-8 per day? if you cant handle this tiny amount of spars, you don't belong on a leaderboard reserved for sparrers.

this is the longest post i've ever made on this forum, hope you enjoy it instead of ignoring everything i just said and finding a way to attack me on it (the natural reaction of everybody who plays graal to seeing my name).

Why should someone get punished for sparring weaker players? Nobody would enforce this rule and would be extremely subjective and biased.

That's only if the points system works naturally though. If a very good sparrer tanks his points low or a bad sparrer manages to get high, it obviously tips the scale.

Another thing you have to consider is that ladder-based systems never reflect who the best overall player is. It reflects who is able to play the ladder the best. The #1 rank on either leaderboard doesn't automatically qualify as "the best sparrer on Graal" at any given time, they are the player who knows how to play the leaderboard the best. That includes knowing who to spar, knowing when to spar, etc.

An example would be if you just saw some scrub player fluke out someone with a lot of points. They just gained a good number of points probably, so sparring them is a good way to win points fairly easily.

It's really difficult getting to the #1 rank just by sparring scrubs, so if any rookies like Bu7maid or Prynce are reading this then you should revise your strategy.

The leaderboards mean nothing though. Comyt just said it and I said it in an earlier post, and I think we're the two players who spend the most time at the #1 rank on each leaderboard. I don't expect anyone to respect or praise me as a sparrer because of it, because the leaderboard holds as much merit as you give to it. Until they start offering some kind of a prize for the rankings, which I never see happening, it just doesn't even matter.

GOAT will continue to make irrelevant, stupid posts and consistently stay at #30+ on the leader boards (ON FACEBOOK) while Thallen, Jack and I stay in the top 5.

With that being said- I'd like to mention some sparrers I wish I would have mentioned over others:

/350 glitch needs to be fixed. Not gonna explain how to do it or every newbie like Prynce would be doing it.

Also, I know transferring stats doesn't work but if transferring still resets your rating to 1500/350 then that should be fixed. It's pretty stupid to be able to have infinite resets to /350. Anyone could come along, spar the #1 sparrer 100 times and lose to them all 100 and just keep resetting their points. However, if they win that 101st spar, in a single spar, they now have more points than anyone and can coast to #1 on the board by beating randoms until they reach /79.

Those two problems (if the second exists) probably counterbalance rating/points on iClassic waaay more than alternate accounts do, right now at least.
