I'm not a "Funny troll"
I'm a "Idiot Troll"

Okay?

You are neither, you're just an idiot.

Science is more fun.

Just report his spam posts, it's not that difficult. I did it, and he was mysteriously banned the next day.

OT: I ****ing suck at both, but science tends to be more interesting and easier to explore for me.

Speaking of Math, this problem like fried my brain on my Hon. Algebra 2 test. Solve for C.

6AB+12AC-9BC=3ABC

This is why I like science better for the most part lol. Math is involved, but it sure isn't like the problem above for the most part.

C=?

Don't want to finish this problem.

wow its been 4yrs since alg ii. If you were wanting a numeric value, there would have to be 3 equations, the 3 planes intersecting at one point. blablablah but since thats not the case, so you are probably looking to solve for "C" in terms of "A" and "B"... the best i can do is simply divide out 3AB:

C = 2 + (C/B) + (3C/A) hmm sorry cant seem to get C alone on left.
alg ii was just too much work, precalc was just a review of alg ii, but calculus is easy. ill go back to calculus class now.

Well certain math... I mean basic high school level algebra is as high as it should be forced to go. I've never needed to use the advanced geometry or trig or advanced algebra at all during The type of sciences I prefer. Its more a matter of knowledge, problem solving, experimentation, logic, and observation for me.

Also could a mod please fix the spelling of science in the poll and title.

In physics you really need a lot of high-level math. Most highschools simplify it by not requiring you to derive a lot of the formulas.

twilit 09-17-2012 05:17 AM

ok i thought more about it now:

6AB+12AC-9BC = 3ABC

(2/C)+(4/B)-(3/A) = 1... divide by 3abc

(2/C) = 1-(4/B)+(3/A)... isolate 2/c

C = 2/[1-(B/4)+(A/3)] ... a little unshown alg1 work

dont take my word for it, dont know if its correct

I think of high level physics as more math than science. I can hook up a sensor set and design a experiment and use the scientific process, then enter all the data into the computer to graph it and have the entire thing done without much math. That's the physics that's really science. The formulas and the rest of that crap? Math.
