Bunsen burner is one of the greatest alliterations in the English language.

I actually don't want/need anything this year. I've lost the need for material things lately.

Unfortunately I've felt like this for a long time. It is unfortunate because at the same time I feel like I should be getting something. Any money that I receive just gets wasted, with very little to show for it.

I want a new laptop, that's about it.

I'm looking to buy one late January.
A bit uncertain whether I want to hop aboard Windows 8 though.

I'm tempted, I like the idea of having a software store.

The thing holding me back is the Start Menu and the disappearance of the Start button on the desktop. The start menu is no longer a list but a bunch of colored squares.
I was playing with it at Best Buy and I felt so lost. I'll probably research more when the time gets closer.

That's probably the only downside, we'll all have to get used to it at some point.

Not really. Windows 8 isn't getting great reception, they're trying to force a tablet-oriented OS on people who have no desire for such a design. It's probably not going to get good reception in the PC market, and that's one of the only markets they dominate it. Hopefully they'll follow the same pattern and Windows 8 will be a flop and the next OS will be much better.

I'm just hoping Best Buy or a physical store will still have some high-end Win7 laptops for a good price before they completely phase them out, that is if they haven't done so by the end of 2012...they already pushed all the Win7 laptops to a single table on the side of the showroom floor, everything is running Win8 now.

I'm also not experienced buying computers/laptops online so that is always an option but I'm uncomfortable with it.
