I played a bit more today, did not expect to be so absorbed into it this quickly. I am obsessed with fishing, I caught 2 sharks already :D This is a really nice break from shooting people all the time.

How does fishing compare to the other games?

In Gamecube when you cast out, your bobber would slowly move back to shore. This made it easy to cast PAST the fish and wait for it to pass the fish for a bite.

In the sequels they made the bobber float out to sea, which meant you had to cast before the fish, which was really hard when the fish was close to shore. It was a pain trying to precisely cast to actually get a bite.

I prefer the Gamecube method, and imo they broke fishing when they changed that simple thing(and also making red snappers much less rare on rainy day mornings :() If they fixed the bobber thing I will be über happy.

The bobber floats with the current. My town has a waterfall so the current up top flows downwards, at sea, it does float away from shore, however I have only encountered about 5 or so fish that were really close to shore making it hard to cast. They do move locations however, so eventually they swim farther out making it easy again.
