Does what weapon/armor you use in this game matter? For example, do certain swords do more damage or is everything the same?

Also, I wouldn't mind writing lore for this game. Maybe I could back up whoever you intend on using as your main story writer.

Players do not level up in this game, nor do they have stats that increase over time.. Instead their weapons do. You can buy/sell/trade upgraded and leveled up weapons. So there will definitely be weapons that are better than others in a fight. There are also special abilities you can equip and buy/sell/trade which help in the arenas. Some are more rare than others.

Currently the way the game is designed is like playing Street Fighter, Smash Bros, Mortal Kombat -- In the sense that you are pretty close to equal during a battle, regardless if you have played for 10 years or not. Older players will have better weapons, but it won't be so much better that they can't be beaten. That way new players still have a chance to beat older players if they are skilled.

I think, there should be a separate game. Campaign, for the individual story how Fortune Fighters are in Multiplayer and Multiplayer for the real gaming experience.

Campaign would have introductions about the ancient artifacts that the Gods bestowed for the fighters to protect from the willy nilly enemy teams from the north, south, east and west. Each enemy team has its own name based on what location they are, either north, south, east or west. You will be trying to protect the artifacts instead, you were tempted by the hidden treasure that the Gods forbid to open the gate by joining the artifacts from each location. You will be in chage in getting the artifacts, meeting different characters helping and guiding you to the artifacts heavily guarded by the ancientt elementals, golems, slimes, spiders, creeps etc. There will be 5 artifacts, the mystic artifact, the plague artifact, the static artifact, the lava artifact and the soul artifact. The 5th is the soul of a person who was destined to bring the artifacts in to place near the temple of the hidden treasure.

I tried to contact Jatz to see if he would comment here but he's been afk/inactive.

There has been solid progress with the engine, I can't say what specifically because I honestly don't know, but what I do know is that quite a lot of the code is done.

I'm hoping he'll update this later today or tomorrow :)

Nahh haha. I think they're doing good sticking with one talented artist. Besides, editting those wasnt that hard. Took like 5 min each with a palette at hand.

If I really wanted to test it I'd give a shot at a landscape (1000x1000 canvas), but I think sticking with one artist helps it keep its unique style.

I'm happy doing the art by myself right now. The sprites are actually really easy, so if anyone has ideas like Shiz did, please send them our way. If we like them, I will convert them to full blown moving sprites that we can add in game.

As far as picking up another artist, where we need help most is environment art because the world is hand painted (no tiles) and its going to be big. If you're interested in this, send me a msg with a link to a small arena or environment you pixeled. Try your best to match the style of the existing art. If we like it, we might pick you up.

Might give it a shot sometime this weekend. Awesome stuff.
