I was possibly the first serious sparrer. I invented some of the techniques everyone use.
|
My brothers friend showed me and my brother this game and we both started to play it, he recruited us to his guild and showed us the basics. We figured out most of the other stuff by ourselves + the help of some of some others.

I learned by myself c:

Stella thought I was cute so she taught me how to play

The first guild I was in was called PK Knights. I remember thats what taught me about towering, but I don't remember the people being all that spectacular.
Shortly after, the guild had drama and I remember being randomly recruited to Cruxis while chilling in Graal city. I thought I was automatically in a super exclusive guild and I was so hyped. I went to castle like they told me and I defended and I felt side-by-side with the pros. (little did I know they would kick me later, as most guilds do xD when you log off) I raged against them for awhile for betraying me. But then this leader in the guild known as swimstar explained how subguilds work. I became a subguild member in the guild pyre. Over my time in cruxis, several of the members taught me different aspect of Graal. Some of the most memorable teachers I followed was Santa, Archon (where I got my "blackheart" from), Swimstar, Pedro (who I rivaled with), Kait, and G-baby. Nearing Cruxis' retirement, Three of us created guilds that would go on to reach 1k. Pedro was the first, who created Hyrule Knights I was next, who created Voyage and G-baby was last who created Brotherhood of Ninjas. Furthermore, some time after that Santa created Cruxis Evolution. We all would had a different position in the politics of Graal. Voyage and HK had a hardcore war going on for a good portion of our journey, many still hold grudges from it. Voyage and BoN allied for awhile but broke it once or twice. CXE and Voyage had fought each other occasionally but usually kept a neutrality relationship. |

nobody really taught me anything but when i started i was playing with all of my friends from dinosmash, also known as the 2009 sage clan, with iggy, majora, 007, seek, etc. and they were the best clan on the game so i guess being around them may have influenced me and made me want to succeed and be worthy of the "top clan" i was already in. didn't really spar a lot when it first came out and did towers with (universal), that guild died and i decided to move to the battle arena. watched everyone fight each other for a while and became super obsessed and examined everyones movements and eventually became the first actual good offensive sparrer on the app when it was idevice only. being really active and memorizing how everyone spars and which corner they prefer to sit in really helped me with rushing, basically knew where everyone was going to move next.
so kind of like this: inspired by the original sage members, taught by just watching everybody in the game but decided to do things differently. |

Overall I think I taught myself about the game, but I do remember during my first months of Graal when I would PM Snow Noob and she would always reply. She was very nice and fun to talk to.

never asked anyone to teach me how to play, game is easy as heck
first person to ever actually interest me in getting good at the game rather than being one of you Graal City n00bs is a guy named "hrr4" who played really old Shaded Legend everyone would PK the unstick level on SL using a level 1 sword (0.5 per hit), but he was known for throwing bombs at players (would do 1.0 per hit) I basically started sparring with people at Rusty's and just learning the game mechanics better because this guy annoyed the hell out of me with his bombs and I wanted to beat him sword vs. bomb |
Andy0687 was the player who taught me more than anyone else. He wasn't a great player, but he was a very talented scripter who broke down the game mechanics to me. I learned about hit boxes, sword delay, juking, player speeds when moving diagonally, blinking, strafing and shortkeys for toggling between items. The only reason I bothered learning was to do well in PK events on N-Pulse; not for sparring. We learned all of the choke points in CTF and went on to win 15 3v3 weekly tourneys in a row. Crono1508, Morpheus and Kez were technically better than us, but our team understood the map to a point of obsession.
