16 gralats for one bee is still pretty good.

You can make way more catching normal bugs and you can also make very fast money by looting so I don't see the problem, Gralats are still very easy to come by and earn. You can earn 365k a year off the Pyrat quest alone which is probably more than most people spend anyways, that and farming is still a very easy and profitable method and always has been.

So the vision for the game when it comes to the economy is to be as repetitive as possible.

I guess those bees I had saved up for a rainy day are useless now

????

Only focusing on catching bees non-stop because it gives you a high amount of Gralats seems more repetitive than being given multiple options that generate the same amount of pay leaving you with a larger variety of tasks to do instead of hunting bees all day, no????

Man, you come off so obtuse sometimes I can't even... Are you new to online games or what?

People played pong and it was repetitive. The point here is that the folks who want to make cash in-game will find the most profitable behavior and repeat it until the cows come home. We used to farm a single screen of swamp because there were 4 baddies that spawned there instead of 3 everywhere else, before pyrats were ever a thing. The baddies dropped bombs, you used the bombs to farm the grass... and bam, 50,000 baddy kills.

Don't anger your customers. And don't use band-aid fixes for larger problems. That's advice from someone who has spent time in an ios/android game development company.

This is in case you want to delete this post.

Bottom line is, nerf was needed but not as much as 80%

Yes they will do the same thing over and over because it makes the most money, which is being repetitive.

The way his reply is worded makes it sound like he's saying that by making this change repetition is the direction theiy are aiming for which if you read my reply you'll see why that isn't the case.

Maybe it was nerfed too much, whatever, but I don't think nerfing it was a bad decision because it gave way too much money, now you'll actually have to invest time to earn money.

It's not that hard to play Graal without purchasing Gralats but people are lazy and aren't willing to put in the work and don't plan ahead for things.

Just to clarify, I know farming and looting is also repetitive but I'm talking in terms of the methods they use as in now that there isn't a highly over paid money making method maybe players who only focused on it will focus on using some of the other methods made available to them which also produce a good amount of Gralats.

If deadowl meant his reply in a different way then he can come clarify that but from my understanding of what it sounds like, what I'm saying makes complete sense.

I'm not one that wants to spend 2+ hours a day on Graal. Maybe two hours every week or so. If I want to make gralats, the fastest way seems to be pirates (and previously bees, which I abandoned a long time ago because people got competitive over bushes, which was just lame). Meanwhile, I find the pirates to be the most boring repetitive task that has ever existed in the history of Classic. As a casual player, there needs to be something more I can do than just kill pirates if I want a place in the economy.

In other words you want to invest next to no time playing a game and expect to make a bunch of money doing it.

It's not like new hats are released every day and requires a constant stream of money, do the pirate quest every day which takes around 30 minutes maximum depending how good you are at it and that's an easy 1,000 a day which adds up and gives you more than enough to purchase hats or other items released when they do.

Looting is casual and provides good money, give it a try and see if you like it.

Yes. Whatever makes the MOST money will be singled out and repeated.

Your sentence is confusing. Whose reply? Mine? Oh, and *they're.

This will result in people isolating the next most valuable behavior and practicing it. Looting is a potential, but so is scamming. Rather than lowering the price of bees in general, the spawn rate could have subtly been reduced. In winter, there are (almost) no places to catch bees, so it would not be noticed... and those who had spent days collecting bees wouldn't be feeling ripped off.

Grand generalization. I haven't ever paid to play Graal.

Planning ahead seems to be the issue with the administration in this particular case - rather than having foreseen the high value of a fairly common commodity being an issue, severe alterations of that commodity have been made after introduction to the environment.

Again, sentence structure. It's difficult to understand what you mean here. Try using 2-3 short sentences instead of a run on.

What I take away from this, though, is correct in my opinion. There should not be an overly dominant activity that is far and above the others in the game to bring in cash. They should be balanced. Looting has a built in balance over time (you can get 5 rare items for 150 each in a row, but more likely 10 common items in a row for 5 each). Bug catching was implicitly exploitable, as was bush farming in days before hack detection.

In future for clarity, include the quote you are referencing. Deadowl has several posts.

And cheers for not rage-deleting the whole post for going against your opinion. Seems like progress.

Plot twist, bees were reduced because fishing is gonna be added so more methods to make money.

GOAT 01-02-2016 06:13 AM

Was it really that important to do such a lame ass move? No, but Classic sure had to teach them hoarders a lesson amiright(damn over entitled players need to learn who's the boss)? I guess it was out of the realm of possibility to let these poor noobs sell their bees and then done the changes. I guess finding a middle ground is never an option. :)

BTW not salty. Had one bee ive been hoarding for like 2 years. :D

Pirate quest

Oh please. I could get almost double the gralats in the time it takes to do pyrat quest at the moment, with looting.

Narcosis 01-02-2016 06:51 PM

Are you freaking kidding me?

Whoever made this ridiculous change just showed how completely out of touch they are with this game.

The reason bees were getting ridiculous is because they started spawning from Grass. Because bees spawn from green gralats and of course green gralats spawn a ton more from grass than they do from bushes.

At first it was just a few select areas (a small patch of grass on Balamb island, then snowtown for some reason) that were heavily crowded upon discovery that bees were spawning there, so they weren't lucrative areas to farm for bees anyway (because of overcrowding and thieves). But then Destiny comes along and bees spawn from every grass tile in the zone. Which even I'll admit was too much.

THAT was the issue. If anything needed to be adjusted, THAT was it; To make it so bees only spawn from bushes again. I've been bee farming for a long time. When it was just bushes, it was totally fine. Since Destiny, bee farming was (inadvertently?) buffed to an insane degree by having so much grass that spawned bees. It's like comparing farming for gralats in bushes to farming for gralats in grass. It's night and day!

But instead of actually getting a player's perspective, you devs prove yet again how clueless you are and not only take bee farming away, but completely screw anyone who currently has a lot of bees saved up (which is such a downright dirty thing to do. Almost makes me sick).

Edit - I also agree with everything 4-Lom has said thus far. He knows what he's talking about.
