this is good.

make the day/night cycle in general that alone is a good idea. Then try the free for all pk at night times after the fact. at the very least we will have a day/night cycle that we can use to have different types of quests, hidden areas, etc

Nivag pls 07-30-2012 06:47 AM

I really like the day/night system... I support this.

Pazx 07-30-2012 07:08 AM

I'd recommend 3 and a third, or 3 and a quarter, or some sort of mixed number for the number of graal days per 24 hours, as this would allow the time of "late night" to change day to day. It'd kinda be a pain in the ass to only be able to play during the day, or vice versa.

As the sickly white sun began to set beneath the tower, the guards began to slowly subside and submit to the darkness. The legion of Baddies began to arrise and slash out at citizens. Creating chaos in all the land. The wicked warriors began to spill the blood of the righteous, in what was once a sanctuary of peace and property laid ruins and death.

The flames of the heart of Graal were extinguished. And so were the minds of the sane, corrupting the citizens into the carnage and frenzy amongst the damned legions. Only few seek shelter in what was a safe area before. Their eyes were wide open, for they knew darkness would await either way.

Dare you combat the legions of baddies and your corrupted fellow Graalians? Or do you join the ranks amongst the murderers, thieves and th-

i reallllly like this idea... :/ but this game is worldwide. i bet the japanese wouldnt enjoy playing with a darkened screen, no safe zones, and more baddies everyday when its daytime for them.

You're not very good at comprehending things, are you?

The guards are already all inside. PK FOR ALL!!!!

Whoa! My entire brain just skidded to a stop. If at night, it's as laggy as deadwood is usually, I want none of this. And if Deadwood is any darker, it might as well be a black screen. I struggle to see the entirety of Deadwood, the caves, and Snowtown fort usually, so I'm not really sure I'm too keen on this idea anymore.

That idea....it is....AMAZING. Things would be much more fun with a free-for-all time for PKing, as well as new things that can only be accessed at night. Another benefit of this idea is that it would discourage pointlessly AFKing in Graal City for virtual dating and begging for money or getting hours. Sure, they could still AFK during the day and indoors, but that's far less annoying to look at than having them sit there non-stop advertising how single and desperate they are or how they can't be like normal people and farm/buy gralat packs/do the pyrat quest. The only possible downside I can see with this is what Pazx brought up, since in certain places it may lag up or be too dark to see.(I'm looking at you, Deadwood.) If that problem can somehow be resolved, then this idea is perfect for implementation. I think I'll congratulate the person mentioned in the first post next time I log into iClassic.

If you're experiencing lag because of the night effect, chances are you're on a very old iPod. Most games are phasing out support for the older iPod's because of its very restrictive hardware... why should Graal limit itself?

It's just nice to be considerate of those with older hardware/software. Of course, Graal shouldn't limit itself, but some of its players may not have the latest in Apple hardware, so they should still be considered.

There's considered, and then there's completely gimping and holding itself back to cater to players with 5+ year-old hardware. I think Graal has done a pretty good job taking into consideration the hardware of older generation iPod's, but to ditch a great and immersive idea like this that's getting a lot of good feedback simply because some players don't have better hardware is silly.

Not implementing an idea because of certain players not having the latest hardware would be completely idiotic. When taking into account how good this idea is, as well as player demand for something new to do, there is no reason this idea should not be put into action. Sure, the AFKers I mentioned might complain, BUT NO ONE CARES ABOUT THEM. Aside from that, I'm sure most Graal players have the necessary hardware for this idea to run smoothly(or not. Someone should do a survey on this or something.) Considering players with older hardware most likely make a minority of the playerbase, it is no reason to hold back Graal and good ideas for it.
