It's an ungraded class, like a homeroom.

I got a / in resource. It's ungraded, as above.

Education system promotes cramming, cheating, doing busywork, spending time out of school doing busywork... Learning to the test... (wanna know why chinas got those high scores? They teach to the test, so they get good grades and it makes them look better.
They don't actually learn more and forget it after a year. )

It's sickening.

So just a question for everyone outside the US. Does your school require an English class.

Yep

The Doctor 10-06-2012 03:23 AM

Germany is required to take english as I've heard from my German pen pal.

I feel sorry for you. Any homework we have for our school is either tied to an assessment or practice to make sure we know the concept/preparing for our next class. Hell, our homework is not even weighted in most classes, only assessments count toward our grade(except for our Habits of Work grade).
We are one of the top (-ish) schools in our state 0.0

A better question would actually be do any countries speaking a language other than English require an English class. And just curious but what language is spoken in Egypt?

Egyptian Arabic.
The majority of the top upper class speak in English to sound elite and can't speak proper Arabic.
I get taught "proper" English, Arabic, French and German at my school.
The very expensive schools don't bother teaching you proper Arabic while the public schools teach ****ty English.

Interesting read xD
Yes I agree with some things said, here in the UK of my time from primary all my subjects from there to end of secondary my results was all based of what I got in primary not what I was actually working at, it seems that teachers here don't have enough time on there hands to go through most the work that is done e.g for an example I knew this for quite some time so I got my friend to help with an english assignment(he was getting A's/B's at the time) and he done pretty much all of it for me, with me adding bits to it & my friend making my stuff better.

Anyways, I gave my assignment in but still somehow got the same grade as what I was predicted to get, so I claimed that it should be remarked(acting if I made an awesome piece of work aha) and another english teacher marked without knowing my grades and it came back that I got an B+ but moral of story is that the grading isn't perfectly correct of course you can learn over and over and get great grades yes, but many actually get grades that don't show there real outcome as most won't ask for remarks in assignments.

Anything new to share here? I'm curious as to the current grades of fellow graalians, cause mine are below par.

Infernus Lapse 01-04-2013 12:41 AM

Mine suck. Im in an inescapable hole of bad grades and crap, especially when i should be doing homework right about now. Stupid ADHD and being bored.

You should censor your real name before you post that, luckily one of the names was blurred out.
