I personally think sparring is a waste of time simply because of the absurd advantages that come with different connection speeds.

It can be fun - but its just a game - and not a very good one at that

I'll hop on classic every once in a blue moon and the spar is usually full of afk people in the lobby. The spar rooms only have like 2-3 people maybe 5 max and they're all afk. There's usually like 1 room where the same two people are actually sparring. Its not during odd hours either.

I'm really inactive so it may be different.

Why does every spar thread end up in one or more people trying to offend Thallen? He's one of the most knowledgeable people in the spar community. I feel like HUSH decided he didn't like Thallen's response to his very opinionated original post, so he shot back at him, and people decided to take sides like this is some kind of battlefield...

Back on topic, I logged on last night and there were 19 people in queue to spar. Other rooms had about 7 or 8 in queue. I don't know what you guys consider "dead", nor why a declaration like this is necessary beyond an attempt to create flame wars... But I don't think spar is dead. I can log on any time of day and find plenty of competition. They do tend to clear the room faster if I win a lot, though...

Somewhat getting back on topic, when rooms are somewhat full like you stated that's an extremely rare event. The second someone starts streaking everyone starts leaving. It 's completely pointless. Everyone has their own opinions I suppose.

Rexx brings up a good point. 7-8 people in a spar room may seem like a good number, but honestly, compared to the 2000 other players online, i consider that "dead" too. i remember a few years ago (before iClassic added flash client, i might add) the center spar room hardly went below 20.

now gimme a second to hand out those reps.

if you guys needed a forum thread to tell you that the spar community isn't as active as its ever been then I'd have to question your awareness
there's no question that there are a very few number of active people in the spar community

if you think that's because Sarah and ABOOD keep wrecking all of you to the point that everyone has abandoned the arena, then you're just dumb

Personally, yes i've seen the decline in sparring however it's not dead at all.

sparring may be less active than it once was, but that won't stop Comyt from skipping school to (yet again) abuse the /350 glitch to gain a #2 position on a leaderboard that he pretends not to care about

I actually took the time to read everyone single persons post start to finish. I'm sure this thread and other threads complaining about spar wouldn't even exist if spar wins were just for kills, just like they were in the past.

Then it was all about the fun, and now its all about the competition. Who's best, who's not, etc... What if it its not graal making sparring apparently "dead", but instead the people?

I don't see the use in complaining and making a huge deal out of it in a thread. Is it REALLY worth your time typing a thread like this? The mind is such a horrible thing to waste, and it still continues to be wasted on things so useless. I wish threads were thought through before even being posted.

Anyway, this has gone off-topic and honestly think it should be deleted, these kinds of threads only make the Graalian community look worse, and I hate to see that. I want this community to grow, not decrease in its numbers.
