Just learn to use them all

In unranked all pick you can make a private lobby select the hero you want to play and then search for a game. When you enter the game your hero selection will default to the last hero you picked which would be the one from the private lobby. In ranked just pick first. Either way, if I've really wanted to play something I've never been stopped. I think searching with a hero picked would be a terrible idea.

No, Dota doesn't need it either. You're usually safe picking whatever you want, there's over 100 viable heroes and your team has a 50% chance of having first pick. You just select the one you want and mash where the "select hero" button will show up.

p.s to any of you unfortunate souls starting Dota 2, don't bother trying to learn every hero right away. Pick about one or two that seem interesting and try to get really good at them. Your goal is to learn the game's mechanics, not master the heroes.

Which should be far easier with the Reborn update, since they are actually integrating ways to learn Dota from basic core mechanics to mastering individual heroes right in the game. Like literally a "Learn" button will be right on the main menu. My only concern with it is... How will the bots fare, especially in such a complex environment?


Also, for those who didn't know because they have been living under a rock as a starfish with swimming trunks, Source 2 will make Dota 2 run obscenely faster apparently. No sacrifice, just a buttload of optimization that could probably make it run on max settings on any old laptop you could walk out of walmart with. I mean, after paying. Shoplifting is bad kids.

Bots on their hardest setting are still tough for people with less experience, I think they'll do just fine.

I downloaded DOTA 2 yesterday just because i liked LoL alot.But,DOTA 2 lags like crap...literally crap.I can play LoL 50-60fps medium on my laptop but DOTA does'nt even run 30fps on ultra low.I'm sure my laptop has enough juice to run it...idk must be a bug?

Dota 2 has higher system requirements because it doesn't look like a cartoon.

ya i predicted the rampage the moment i saw the heroes but theres something so satisfying about critting in that game. the way character animations change, the blood in PA's case, the sound effect...hnngh.

Y'know, now that I understand how this whole game works, it kinda seems a little stupid. You basically go near things and let them die so you can get strong enough to deal with other players, then you buy junk that makes you even stronger, then you be a douche to your side's creeps by using them as fodder for towers while you beat on the now distracted towers, and it all painfully slowly escalates into a big clusterfudge at the enemy's corner of the map that usually results in the destruction of their ancient.

TL;DR MOBAs are all pointlessly convoluted grindfests that progress very slowly toward a climax that gives only the satisfaction of victory.


I think games like DOTA have forgotten what the point of a game even is. I don't understand how this is fun for anyone. Hell, some people don't think it's fun but still play anyway because A) they made way too serious of a career out of it or B) China.

How is that stupid? It's an Arena RTS game with RPG elements. Pure gameplay, no out of game bull**** or pay2win mechanics.

It's not at all a grindfest. Also: the average games takes about 38 minutes, a little quicker than CS:GO matches.

@ziro, to be fair playercount alone doesn't cut it since LoL has high playercount but only because it snowballed back in 2009. the game itself is absolute ****
