How is it awful? That doesn't even make sense unless you're just not a fan of those types. And one gust from a pidgey will blow breloom away

Victini is UU purely because of its typing. The Psychic/Fire typing is extremely susceptible to entry hazards (Stealth Rock, looking at you), and extremely weak to the threat of Pursuit and Sucker Punch - its secondary Fire typing does not help its case in checking the main users of these two moves at all. The two types barely complement each other; the only case is Fire offsetting the Psychic type's weakness to Bug, primarily in the abundance of U-Turns in the current metagame.

Breloom outspeeds Pidgey easily, Spores it, and knocks it out with a Focus Punch seeing as the Normal secondary typing offsets the resistance from Flying. Actually, Breloom can simply Mach Punch with a Technician boost and OHKO it.

Remember when we played Pokemon without EV's and IV Training? I do, because I never did Ev train. I dare one of you competitive battlers to just play X or Y for fun, pure fun...like you did when you were young.

NOOOOOOO. I'll be getting mine release day. I'll ship ya one. I'll get you Z version.

Some actually enjoy min/maxing.
EV & IV training doesn't diminish the fun, it enhances the fun.

Do you not understand that people enjoy the competitive side to games? Get your head out of your ass.

No, because in Red and Gold there was no EV training, otherwise I would have. Not everyone is a casual gamer, you realize; and not everyone is young when they play this game.

I never ev trained until black 2. Lol I always just got through the story and did the extra stuff and that was it. But then in black 2 I was like "how the f*** do I complete this world tournament?!". Then I did some research and figured out evs and ivs and all that. Then beat all the tournaments without too much struggling lol. But yeah for x I'll play the story not giving a **** about evs and crap then after I beat the game I'll make a special ev trained team.

Ok what if its aerodactyl

Dusty 10-05-2013 05:45 PM

I never got into the EV training and stuff, I just don't really get into the competitive stuff. Then again, I burn out with Pokemon either right before the Elite 4, or right after. At that point I don't really feel like doing the necessary grinds anymore. I think in Platinum my save is after the Elite 4, I was grinding to level up some Pokemon I liked, but got bored of it.

Ok what if its aerodactyl

Again, Mach Punch priority destroys Aerodactyl since its Rock typing offsets its Flying type, as well as the fact that Aerodactyl has no access to priority Flying type moves worth using. No other Grass/Fighting type has the utility Breloom does.

Let's take a look at the damage calculator.

Here is the calculation for Breloom's mixed attack set versus Aerodactyl's best defensive set: a lead with 252 Defense.

Low Sweep: 75.74 - 89.03%
Focus Punch: 125.91 - 148.5%
Bullet Seed: 93.68 - 111.62%
Stone Edge: 112.29 - 132.22%

252 Atk Choice Band Breloom Focus Punch vs. 0 HP / 252 Def Aerodactyl: 379-447 (125.91 - 148.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Now, that damage calculation was against Aerodactyl's best defensive set. Here's what the damage calculation looks like for the two 'meta' sets.

Focus Punch: 190.36 - 224.25%
Seed Bomb: 101.66 - 119.93%
Mach Punch: 76.07 - 90.03%

252+ Atk Choice Band Breloom Focus Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Aerodactyl: 573-675 (190.36 - 224.25%) -- guaranteed OHKO

The only real absolute check to Breloom is Celebi; Gengar, Amoonguss, and even Latias can be taken down by different variants of Breloom's many possible sets.

So there you have it.
