I find that players only recognize an update when it is grouped together as a large offering. It's a shame because if you release something every now-and-again (like you are suggesting) they totally overlook its value. On Classic people only seem to view entire town releases as updates

not true, big towns and stuff just get abandoned, you need to keep a constant stream of content, a actual story, a river to feed players, not tsunamis every 3 months.

that's the thing though, era players are different. They litterally get satisfied with the release of a new gun or two every other month. That is the extent of a great update. It's just that it has been that way for about 2 years now, with the inclusion of the every now and then "wow" update (zombie mini game, new bases, new zones, new events, etc) It is just over done, and people are just bored with it now.

Well, that may be how it is on classic, and it may be this way for some people on era. But for me and some others, constant updates is what makes (made) era fun from its release.

Explained much better than my crappy one.

Are there any games that provide 'great updates' on a monthly basis?

It is possible with Graal. I have been on several Developing teams, and each of them work their asses off and there is something new every 3 weeks or so, done and ready (iDelteria, Shaded Legends, iZone).

minecraft weekly snapshots,

and some of the plans for servers in progress include steady streams of content, events in the game, scripted things happening, attacks on towns, wars, monsters, lost treasure, diplomatic relations with kingdoms (GRAAL POLITICS ON A WHOLE DIFFERENT LEVEL) and QUESTS THAT ARE UPDATED AND CONNECTED TO A STORY

I think you're wrong. If you plan out what there is to do per town, you can make those special features town specific, so players will come and go for specific reasons.

I am for releasing cluster content, but I think guns should be separate and special, unless they're town/theme specific.

I think Era should hire few more active scripters. Looks like Callimuc is doing most of them with snk...

staff member admits he doesnt care what players want or say, well guys, theres always strosteria,

or maybe if i ever do get my iron grip on a server i could turn graal around and give players what they deserve.

i never said that i dont care what you are suggesting. i only said that we dont have to give a **** what you post on here because we dont even have to check stuff on here.
you can go on trying to put the words in an order you want them to be but in the end you are just talking bull****.

seems to me like you need to hire more scripters. You also said there is stuff ready, just tell me why we can't get a great update every month instead of waiting 6-8 months for something that is advertised as fantastic.

funny, how are we supposed to get more scripters on a game where you have to pay2learn? most players get distracted by that and step over to gfx and stuff where they dont need to pay or dont need graal.
it is not up to me when stuff is released, its still the managers job. and i never advertised something as fantastic, neither did i claim it to be a fail. here we are again - player making up stuff which hasnt been said.

Hadi 11-11-2012 01:52 AM

higbey do you work for stroseria?

Not going to get into those servers, but the content is not created within those three weeks lol.

minecraft weekly snapshots,

Minecraft groups its updates together and releases them a few times a year. That is a really bad example.

failure 11-11-2012 01:53 AM

It would be hard to constantly keep updating a game, but every few weeks they should have some sort of chain of updates each week. Kind of like how era does holidays like Halloween and Christmas: update a day at a time until a certain point, then die down for awhile until the next holiday. Except on a larger scale, like every week or two.
My problem is the lack of updates (not Halloween related).

I never said you do? I meant in general. Please don't assume and then get offended/defensive.

You have to PAY to learn how to do script? That sucks...guess that explains the lack of scripters.

Yeah, what xena said, but pay2learn sucks.

im talking about the snapshots, the beta releases each week, not the official updates,

Jester Lapse 11-11-2012 01:56 AM

And explain to me how holiday stuff is generally all made within a month? Players usually consider those great updates, and honestly they don't take much effort from what I notice
