I wouldn't be surprised if half of us entries misunderstood this whole thing to some degree. Though I don't think Jarace made any mistakes stating on OP.
1. He encouraged us to non copyright musics or voice, letting me to think that we shouldn't use musics outside of graal/royalty free ones.
2. He said use the work of our own, also made me thought it has to be like graal footage only, no other clips involved.
3. attract us to play the game = what make us qualifying, im guessing? or what unix/jarace wants.

so why I mentioned these 3 is that, I originally thought of making a meme video. I wanted to make "Types of Role Players on Graal": Military, Baby Adoption, Dating Marriage, Types of PKer or Sparrer etc. but it's really hard without any meme clips overlapping above and make fun of everyone..

that seems like why people who submitted early did a very "formal" job at introducing the game, rather than make everyone laugh to death like spods.
but i guess either way spod wouldve nuked us with that video lmao. he did very good job with editing. /ripperoni

1) - The music you own/royalty-free music rule was just in case Unixmad wanted to use the videos in official promotion.

2) - That was mostly because I didn't want anyone stealing videos/content from others. One of the FAQ questions should clear up this misunderstanding. (It doesn't have to be all in-game footage. Had a few people ask me about making animations for it, and I think that is fine so long as it accomplishes what the theme of this contest requests).

3) - Yeah, trailers fulfill the aforementioned theme of this contest. I've mentioned it a few times: Show off your favorite activity/activites on Graal Online. Ideally, this should show off what is fun about the game and attract new players.

While organizing the contest, it crossed my mind that Unixmad and the GraalOnline administration would prefer more serious videos, whereas the community might prefer less serious videos or videos more oriented towards entertainment. I think both can effectively accomplish the contest's theme, so that's why the contest is somewhat open ended. I didn't want to stifle anyone's creativity.

If spods video has copyrighted music, that will need to be changed for it to be allowed in the contest.

nope, don't trust ncs. had used them for my Youtube videos, most of them got copyright claims now. their contracts ****, artists can just break it up and claim their music copyright and steal money from other video creators who have used them.. or something like this, i don't know the details, but all I can tell you is, they'll be copyrighted within couple years.

and what does ncs do? remove the video and act like that video never existed.. **** them. I think there's a video about calling them out.

If you use a different song, check it here and make sure it is free to use in videos.

You might want to consider Zetectic's cautionary tale, however.

I went "Classic" mode. I downloaded bunch of favorite, memorable moments on Graal and put them together in one minute video. I think Classic has a lot to offer and this video isn't even spoiling any newer contents that new users would have to experience on Graal. Clips are purely based on my own memories that I've had from Graal in the past, time to pass it to the next generation.

A bit of disappointment, I downloaded bunch of apps that would do "cool" effect on my clips, but ZERO idea how to get my clips from PC to iPhones. So that idea went wasted for me, if you could, please do try. They might make it a little more 'fancier'.

Best video.

Notes:
- tried to keep it pg-13 but post-production got derailed quite a bit and we ended up adding a few things that might undermine the forum rules.. lmk if you want the profanity bleeped

- post-production took about 11 hours total split within 6 days

- had a sore throat during a few voice recording sessions, mind the discrepancies in volume, tone, intonation, etc

- I've only put the graal classic links in my description since the others are largely irrelevant to me

Puddles 09-10-2018 06:03 AM

Here's my submission for the promotion category, I spent a huge amount of hours editing it over a couple weeks in my spare time, so I hope my production value goes far.

Two more great submissions. Nice job!

Yes, I think it would be better to censor the profanity given this forum rule:

The use of profanity and sexually explicit language is not permitted as these forums cater to all ages.

It would also be best to add the other links to the description, just to be safe.

honestly, this one, is super good. really good production quality, smooth transitions. all around perfection. are the sounds you used royalty free? because i wouldn't want work like this to go to waste because of copyright.

most of the sound effects I used are generic royalty free jingles

1. Jarace's OP explicitly mentioned:

•Stick to the game soundtrack, music you made, or royalty-free music.

iirc this clause was implemented in case unixmad wants to use the video for promotional purposes? the assumption here is that this rule extends to sound effects even though it wasn't stated but some clarification would be nice

assuming that sound effects are also included, is every little intricacy going to be evaluated with a fine tooth comb for copyright infringement? I'd like to know how much I can get away with here when it comes down to my submission and its eligibility

This is something I should have thought of initially, and I'm sorry for not including that. Yes, you should steer clear of copyrighted sound effects as well in order to be considered for the prize. If unixmad can't use it in promotion on the basis of copyright, it won't qualify for the prize. As a result, yes, videos will be looked at intricately for copyright concerns.

That said, my recommendation is to not delete this version of the video or the project file for it if you think the copyrighted sound effects make the video much more effective. Same goes for Theos's video, just in case he is reading. More on why that is the case soon. You'll still need to remove copyrighted stuff to qualify as one of the best promotional videos, that won't change.

Video contest? More like a way to see how people pronounce "Graal"...
