Ok, most players lack understanding on how the staff system works. iEra and iClassic have two completely different staff trees. I know this because I used to work for iClassic.

iClassic:
Manager - Manages the staff.
Developer - Makes new content like items and such. As well as plans the DEVELOPEMENT of the game. Practically responsible for any scripting that goes on.
GFX - Makes the Graphics that you see in game. Mostly the released hats/heads/bodies/furniture are made by the GFX team. Also at times a GFX is assigned to design a new item.
Uploader - Uploads your heads/bodies/shields/swords.
Levels - Designs new levels and areas. Also has responsibility of fixing any errors on the levels. Level scripting.
GP - Police the server to stop any player harassment, glitching, hacking, or any kind of action that goes against general rules of the game.

NONE of these staff positions entitle a staff member to reply to your PM. Keep in mind BEING a staff member is VOLUNTEER work, which enables the staff members to work on their own time, at their own pace, to their own preference as long as it follows standard staff guidelines. It isn't against the rules for a staff member to ignore a question, there is no Player Relations position on iClassic as opposed to iEra.

I'm not entirely sure what all the iEra positions are but I'm going to list the ones I at least know of so far.

iEra:
Manager - like iClassic manager I'm guessing.
Developer - like iClassic dev I'm guessing as well.
Levels - same thing...
GFX - yada yada same.
PR - OK HERE IS THE DIFFERENCE. If I'm not mistaken a PR is there for the player, hence Player Relations. In other places a position like this might be known as a CM or, Community Manager. I could be wrong about what a PR does when it comes to Graal, I'm just going off of my general knowledge/experience as a PR/CM myself on other games/communities.

Also I'm sure I missed some iEra positions so feel free to add them lol.

I'm pretty sure that's it. So Dev and GFX make hats? Or is it that it just releases and plans out the releases of hats and items?

I know some do talk to players, I was one of those people that would talk to players. But my point is, it's by choice that they reply to players and answer questions. It ISN'T in the job description for the iClassic staff.

well the Dev's, from my experience, sorta give out assignments to the other team members. Like give GFX team members new GFX assignments and give Levels team new levels assignments. At times though some Devs do the level or GFX work themselves. Added that they do sorta plan the release on things.

As a dev myself on some not really known servers, I didn't really do GFX. So I was confused. Thanks for clarifying.

Yes ik waffs. U pm'd me when i had questions

In response to Waffelz;

Player Relations are the equivalent to iClassic's Graal Police, the difference being that PR's are more a combination of FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions Officers) and GP (Graal Police)
On iEra, it is the PR's Job to interact with the players and help them with their needs (Depending on the need of course) and to make sure the server runs smoothly, therefore we are also the ones who lay down the law.

Oh I see. Makes sense now. Thanks.

NYN 09-09-2011 07:22 PM

I used to be known for answering every single little question directed towards me via facebook, email, pm, etc. That's when I had time. I had no problem doing so. This was mostly in the winter when work for me is slow due to snow (my job relies on good weather). I work too much in real life now a days so I try to meet my requirements of a GP which is ban the naughty people. In the winter time I might be on more OR I might move for 3 months to Los Angeles to work, and back to NYC after the snow melts.

We have plenty of GPs who are in the beginning phases of their GP career who can cater to you all better some some of us oldbies can. Can't play Graal forever. So I'm sorry I can't be there to answer everyone's questions but I did make a Graal FAQ for you all to look at.

Lot's of people dont get that...

Blink182 09-13-2011 09:26 PM

True

MattKan 09-13-2011 10:39 PM

You know, Skill used to be a pretty cool guy when he was less angry about everything and didn't complain so much.

I've seen it in real life and on Graal: Complaining about everything will make you lose friends and be generally disliked.

Higbey 09-14-2011 04:02 AM

And not taking any action at all will mean you'll never get anything changed. I'm tired of peoples attitude that we are supposed to just accept stuff like this and to keep our opinions to ourselves. If people would just get more determined and cooperate we might be able to actually get something changed. Unfortunately we all know that some of the staff and Stefan and Unixmad can't be trusted to just listen to players.
