The first three episodes were the best in my opinion.

Pretty much.

I'm 12 minutes into 4th and I still think its absolutely amazing.

The pkers are never mentioned again, the entire episode is pointless.

If you went with the hype before the series came out, I heard it's a little disappointing.

but I didn't and I started watching the series about when it finished so I never knew how much this series was anticipated and that's why people feel the way they do now, because it was overhyped.

It was decent, the ALO Arc was pretty bad compared to the SAO Arc though. I really enjoyed the series. Hopefully the second season will redeem it.

I didn't feel for any characters.
I kinda wanted them to die.
All of them.

Just. Kill. That. ****ing. Orange. Haired. Girl.

Ah, watching episode 5 now. Episode 4 is probably my favorite so far. But something in episode 5 happened that I can totally relate to(spoilers)

Spoiler

Ah, the classic Sell N Share/Need vs greed drama. Had it happen way too many times to me in Tera.

On episode 7 now, I can start to see why people are criticizing the anime.

Spoiler

The first and 2nd episodes seem to provide a false hope that the anime focuses on the action genre. The first floor boss covered elements of tactical raids and was quite an in depth fight. The general emphasis on the flow of an MMO game, it certainly seems to set a path towards an action show, which in the west is the most appreciated type of anime. Action-oriented animes tend to be well received and the most popular outside of Japan.

After the first couple episodes, fights are implied and don't really contain much action. It seems to skip ahead floors, and fights are not as rich or significant as they were at the start. The anime switches to be more plot driven. The plot becomes implied and requires you to think, with many ongoing mysteries. Elements of romance are frequently introduced, which many were not looking for in a show that is supposed to capture the feeling of a MMORPG.

Because of the reduced emphasis on action and increased effort put into other aspects of the show such as romance or mysteries, it upset many people as it was not what they expected.

So far I personally don't mind the path the anime has taken, I personally like it. But I can certainly see why people became disappointed and upset with what happens, as it does not meet their expectations.

Will update as I continue watching. Still loving it, myself.

You understand it, very well may I add, but that 5 year old kid going http://www.modernmom.com/sites/defau...angersMMPR.jpg
ZOMG DA POWR REGERS (Despite this picture is from Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger..pfft, PR sucks...)
Has taken over too.

Maybe you'll see how truly bad all of it is whine you get to the sick sadistic Carrot Top at the end of ALO.

Pazx 02-17-2014 06:46 AM

sao sucks but you should stop trying to ruin his viewing experience you absolute dickbag

Talon 02-17-2014 06:54 AM

SAO's 1-12 was okay, even if the plot was fillery and rushed, it was at least eye candy and fun to watch. 13-24 though, just avoid them.

Mejico Josh 02-17-2014 09:12 AM

After you finish watch log horizon. Its far far better than SAO and actually feels like a true mmo

Talon 02-17-2014 09:32 AM

man I know Sakurasou shouldn't make you cry but damn there are some serious tearjerking scenes for me

My first anime. Enjoy the shear epicness of the action, themes, and repeatable quotes.

It's so easy to tell that Gurren Laggen and Kill la Kill are made by pretty much the same people.

The over-the-top action is ridiculous but extremely fun.
