No, it's not. Quite improved actually. 2.0 made Destiny fun again. TTK is only going to add more fun on to it. Been playing nonstop since the patch hit. Around 18 GB on PS4 so it took a while but it was worth it. Can't wait till Tuesday to buy TTK.

Added you too. Like Lynx said, it would be really cool if we can make a Graalians clan for all of us to join.

Well I haven't bought a single DLC let alone The Taken King.

Is the vanilla game any better?

No, sadly you need the DLC to fully experience Destiny..Heck, they are not even letting people buy TTK unless you have both DLC packs. That is why they are now selling editions that include Destiny + both DLCS + Taken King for $60. But yeah, the vanilla game is short of content..and you gonna need that DLC to fully enjoy it.

5hift 09-12-2015 01:45 PM

I thought so.

Well I'm not exactly going to buy the DLCs for the price I bought the ****ing game.

Maybe when the price lowers I'll consider.

It feels like I purchased a trial version of this game and they're releasing the full thing just now. I was tempted to get back into it again, but I don't want to fork over all that money for DLC and have to learn how to do the raids all over again so I don't bring the team down.

Yeah I understand. When I looked at The Taken King videos, everyone called Year 1 the beta of Destiny. I see their point..And it really is no suprise that those who paid $140 for the full game ( Destiny + Both DLCS + TTK) feel scammed when Destiny: Collectors Edition is selling for $60 which includes the base game, both DLC's and TTK. But nevertheless, I still love Destiny for the grinding. Just sucks you're locked out of content if you don't own any of the DLCs. As you said, Year 1 was like the trial while Year 2 feels like an actual game. An actual game only if you have all the DLC pieces. Sucks.

Even after all my complaining to friends and forums, I for some reason decided to buy the Xbox One version of The Taken King Legendary Edition today. Does anyone know how long this takes to install? It's only at 12% after a couple hours.

Striken 09-20-2015 11:44 PM

Depends on your internet plan and such, took me an hour or two.

Welcome back lol. It took me about 2-3 hours. Also, did you already have HoW and TDB installed? If not, that why it might be taking long as the patch your installing will have all the expansions content in it. That's probably why. Unless you do, then in that case I'm not sure.

Thanks! Mine took 12 hours or more I swear. It's probably because it had to install the game, DLC, my data from the 360, and updates. I only hopped on for a bit, but I feel like a total noob. Everyone is level 40 and I'm still 31. The last time I played was in December of 2014.

This is my honest review based on what I've played.

I actually really enjoy this DLC so far. From one that was really skeptical about even considering buying this DLC, I can tell you that it practically feels like I bought a different game. I've already dumped many hours into it. I really enjoy it because the story is slightly more enjoyable now compared to previous endeavors, there is actually a touch of character development, and the game as a whole just feels more lively due to the quest system's implementation. I haven't even began to look at the raid yet, as I'm nowhere near enough light level so that major aspect is just waiting for me to delve in to. I also really liked that there are quite a few exotics that require interesting challenges to obtain (Touch of Malice) and it's not just all based on the element of luck anymore. The only downside I can think of is that a few of the game's key things got basically left behind. There's no reason to complete previous raids (Crota/Atheon) except for personal enjoyment, trials of osiris appears to have unfortunately left us and there's essentially no reason to bother playing Prison of Elders. I'm sure in the near future all these issues will be addressed but as for now it's a bit disappointing to see their absence in the overall scheme of things. But coming from one who's played Destiny since the beta, I really recommend picking this up if you're a fan.
