RWBY, Ben10, Avatar The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra are not anime, but are considered anime influenced animations.
|
Just a quick recap for everyone
Anime: a JAPANASE made animation Cartonn: a AMERICAN made animation Both take inspiration from each other but thats the bottom line |
Not really, Anime rarely at all takes influence from cartoons, and many cartoons don't take inspiration from anime, but the few cartoons that do are considered Japanese influenced animation. Not cartoon, but not anime, just an animation similar to anime.

In it's definition, anything that's animated is considered Anime (including cartoons, ex; Ben 10, Looney Toons, etc)
That's how Japan views it, we (the west) view it and define it as something that comes strictly from Japan. Last Airbender, Korra are what I consider American anime. (RWBY is widely accepted to be anime). Only reason why this debate exists is simply because people believe Japan will lose part of it's cultural identity if we were to accept Non-Japanese animations as anime. |
