Maybe increase environmental diversity, i.e. creating two discriminated planets/areas, one abandoned and rundown, where the other is a high tech and well developed haven. The abandoned area relies on mechanical machines and guns, while still maintaining a high tech vibe, and the futuristic area relies on electrical devices and weaponry, such as laser guns. The images in my head are also partly inspired by the Borderlands series.
Also, I think it would be cool if zone would revolutionize graal forever. I just recieved this idea after my last post a about environments, but what if zone was an active ecosystem where you literally rely on resources from the masses. Instead of rating "professionalism" by kills, with this idea implemented it would be rated by resources. In an interstellar war, it doesn't matter if you have guns, vehicles, or a good looking character. What would matter is how many resources you have, and how well you can defend those resources. This of course would require the faction idea in order to work, as each faction would be competing for resources rather than bases. Business deals that trade money for resources can add to the realistic economical systems. ****, now I feel like making my own damn game.
