it's such a great anime, it stimulates you and keeps you interested with cliff hangers, although the ending was a bit crazy.

Btw has anyone seen La storia della Arcana Famiglia its a pretty good anime that has wonderful fighting scenes and an original story.

Infernus Lapse 12-17-2013 04:37 PM

I'm looking for a good anime that's like AoT and SoA, with the same amounts of action and a bit better drama. Anyone know anything?

Talon 12-17-2013 06:17 PM

I'm only on episode 5 of Kyoukai no Kanata, and it's already up there with some of my favorite animes of all time. the action and fighting is pretty solid, and the drama is already ramped up at a rapid, yet believable rate and the voice acting captures the intensity of the drama perfectly; it's some of the best voice acting I've ever heard. The side of fantasy and comedy is also very well balanced around the drama, and the bits of comedy sprinkled throughout the series are hilarious.

10/10, would recommend to anyone. Seriously, anyone.

Well a more mature show would be classic such as cowboy bebop (about bounty hunters in space, reguarded as the best anime ever made) and Baccano (which is a 13 episode series set in 1930,1931 and 1932 new york, which interlinks three storylines: the search for the immortality elixir, the robbery of the train the flyingpussyfoot and the search for Dallas genoard. In my eyes one of the best animes out their, also watch the dub, its one of the best ever made

Scarlet 12-17-2013 10:16 PM

It's completely old school, unless of course you watch only the new seasons that took forever to come out, but yall should try out Slayers. It's fantasy, comedy, drama, action, and romance all wrapped up in an awesome storyline! If I could compare it to the newer stuff, I'd say Shuffle! or Angel Beats.

Platinum 12-17-2013 11:39 PM

I am disappointed with the ending of Death Note. Very disappointed.

the best voice acting is in baccano >.<

Blah64 12-18-2013 01:17 AM

I think the English dub for Baccano! works so well because it is based in America.

Death Note is a great example of how a terrible ending can ruin an otherwise good series. It would have been a much better show if it had ended at episode 25.

Myst 12-18-2013 01:25 AM

I was enjoying it so much just to be shutdown by the ending but overall was still a great anime with great scenes.

The thing that made Baccano interesting for me was solely the fact that there were 34820850240480 criminals all coincidently on the same train. Favorite characters were Isaac and Miria.

And no Death Note was not disappointing, Death Note was one of the few anime that ended AS IT SHOULD HAVE. Several series were ruined for me because every other anime wont let their main character die at the end.

Spoiler

But Light was so smart, he planned everything perfectly. He even killed L, though indirectly using Rem, so he should've been able to wriggle out of that situation. I was disappointed how they scripted Light to go mad and run away looking stupid, he could've at least had some dignity in dying.

I put it down to their confrontation on episode 11 or 12 where ladd gets his ass handed to him

Myst 12-19-2013 02:42 AM

Just because an anime character is not as stronger than another doesn't mean they are less "badass" xp anyways it's not like ladd dies..somehow.

I started watching Beyons the boundary after hearing good things about it in this thread, sure it good.

*cough* dont open these v~~spoilers~~^ if you havent watched death note

Spoiler
but he was "playing the role of God," playing with human lives, which basically makes him a mass murderer. L is able to name Light as his main suspect in only a few episodes in. He gets cornered several times playing his own game. HE HAD TO DIE there was no other way to end the anime.

Don't open this either if you haven't seen Death Note.

Spoiler
Still, even if he died, he could've at least got his 'perfect world' he wanted. I would've preferred him to prepare a bomb just in-case, to blow the warehouse up so his secret was safe. There were many alternatives and actions Light could have taken, and he did not manage to think of one of them!

Spoiler
I didn't care that he died, it was more like the way he died and that he was out smarted by A which is basically the disciple of L. Shouldn't light have been able to outsmart A if he could L.

I just recently marathon through Dangan Ronpa, I can't believe I missed this amazing series when it was ongoing during the summer. Although it probably would've been better to marathon instead on agonizing it all the twists every episode.

A group of 15 elite high school students are gathered at a very special, high class high school. To graduate from this high school essentially means you'll succeed in life, but graduating is very difficult. The school is presided over by a bear called Monokuma, and he explains to them that their graduation hinges around committing a murder. The only way to graduate is to kill one of your classmates and get away with it. If the other classmates discover the identity of the killer, the killer is the only one executed. However, if they fail to catch the killer, only the killer graduates and the others are annihilated. Which of the 15 will survive the bloodbath to come?

The only downside is that the anime took a 25 hours game and adapt it to a 13 episode anime (Roughly 5 hours), so apparently is seemed rushed. I have never seen the game to say, and it looks quite well done in my opinion. Although I would've wondered how it would have gone if they made it a two-core series. Each episode was well done, having the right amount of stuff in each episode, leaving many suspense along the way.

All in all, this is a very amazing series. One of the better ones I've seen in awhile.

Reading from the description, if you read manga try Aphorism:
Naraka High School, is a seemingly normal school. However, unknown to the public is the cruel truth of what really goes on in the school's halls. Rather than studying, students are forced to struggle for their very survival. And the strong bonds of friendship may be the only difference between life and death.
http://mangafox.me/manga/aphorism/

There is also Kamisama no Iutoori ni:
Takahata Shun's day at high school begins just as normal and boring as ever, but it doesn't end that way. After his teacher's head explodes, he and his classmates find themselves forced to play children's games, such as Daruma ga Koronda (a game like Red Light/Green Light), with deadly stakes. With no idea who is behind this mysterious deadly game session, and no way of knowing when it will finally end, the only thing Shun and other students can do is keep trying to win...
http://mangafox.me/manga/kamisama_no_iutoori_ni/

These two are quite good, I reccomend them. Though beware, they contain gore, especially Kamisama no Iutoori ni.

Too many "students killing each other in high school" animes/mangas.

I'm not that big of a fan with gore, Dangan Ronpa didn't make it seem very gorey and focused more on mystery and horror. Plus I only read romance manga since a lot of times action scenes appears bad to me in manga.

NouCome ( my mental choices ) is an amazing on going anime !!!
It's based on a teenage boy who has been given a course , every day he needs to complete a mission so the curse can go away ! Only thing is ... If he fails to complete just 1 mission the course will stay for ever :0!! He is given a helpful assistants by god which will help him along this way.
The curse is called mental choice and it consists of him having weird choices taht he has to chose from ( usually 2 choices ) they pop up in his head and he has to chose one !! These choices are usually embarrassing !!!

Funniest anime ever , a must watch for definate !! Especial thx to killua for suggesting me this anime :*

Blah64 12-26-2013 03:38 AM

Just watched 'Puella Magi Madoka Magica'

'Twas awesome.

To me, it was basically a 'magical girl' anime about deciding whether to become a magical girl, instead of what she does after she becomes one (like most are). Of course, then episode 10 happens and you realize that the main character of the show is actually someone else.

Talon 12-26-2013 03:58 AM

youre supposed to use the spoiler tags dammit

Blah64 12-26-2013 04:26 AM

I don't see any spoiler in my post...
That 'episode 10' thing isn't really a spoiler. Whom the 'main character' is doesn't spoil anything. The show just happens to clarify that piece of information in episode 10.

Oh, I do have a spoilery part that I really liked about the show:
Spoiler
It was awesome how the first 2 episodes are your typical, happy, cute magical girl anime. Even the opening and endings. So, going into the show unspoiled, I had no idea what I should be expecting. Ending of episode 3 happens, and I was just flabbergasted.
