Good move, stops guilds with 10 wins from getting 8000 boosted points and entering. Although, should have done this when registration opened.

FP4, is top seed/seeding still the guild with the most points in their guild profile or is it the wins on the season board?

Definitely gonna be the rating in profile still, otherwise this update would have 0 meaning

James205 11-25-2016 02:53 AM

Good job at implementing this change 2 days prior to gst on a holiday week. That is poor implementation and ridiculous.

Yes.

Any guild that didn't lose points is actually sparring on a regular basis or has been this week. For some guilds this kicked them from a top seed to not having a seed at all or being in the lower 32.

TeK 11-25-2016 03:21 AM

Can we get the registration extended for iDev? Any teams that are changing tags don't have much time to register.

I think this is a fair request considering the situation

The plan is to switch to a single 64 team tournament when the guild system is eventually updated.

Best news

Also, pretty sure most are overreacting about the points and just looking at the numbers instead of actually GSing and seeing how it works
shark gang went from 4100 to nearly 6600

Sarah_ 11-25-2016 02:29 PM

Idk how getting pts works yet but If It is based on activity only now then that's bad, people will just spar noob guilds to raise pts.

Seems fairly similar to the old system outside of just having to spar a little more actively.

Thallen 11-25-2016 05:43 PM

Whitebeard had like 3k-4k points until they got their rating deviation to 75 and then it skyrocketed to 7k, all you have to do is spar actively for a bit

DoubleliftGraal 11-25-2016 08:30 PM

Why not 64 teams, the un-professional teams need a chance too(iDevice)

The iDevice tournament has been shrunk from 64 guilds/teams to 32 guilds/teams.

Now lets shrink the mix to a 16 team tournament and we can have one every month like in the beginning.

TeK 11-26-2016 04:29 AM

Since the Round of 64 was removed from the iDevice tournament, that brings the total numner of matches (in both GST's combined) down by a whole 1/3, from 96 (64 iDevice and 32 Mixed) to 64 (32 iDevice and Mixed). There's always been 6 arenas to view the matches from, but will there only be 4 this time? It wouldn't make the tournament take any longer than usual because taking out 1/3 of the rings just evens out wih taking out 1/3 of the matches. Kinda hoping this is the case because it'll be easier to watch and there's less of a chance that spectators will miss matches that they wanna see, and the Winner's room always only shows 4 arenas anyways.

Sorry if that's a mess of a paragraph!

James205 11-26-2016 08:11 AM

I ask 1 thing of the admins this season, please open the viewing rooms on time or a little early this GST. Last GST they were opened late and was annoying to get everything organized for my stream

There's about 40 hours from now until the brackets are determined. I feel that's more than enough time to spar and get their scores where they need to be.

Guilds with 100+ rating deviation -- these were the only guilds affected by the change -- shouldn't be able to sit through pre-GST week and coast their way into the brackets.

Switching it to where it allowed for 3 months of time and then instantly, without notice, allowing for 40 hours to catch up is not a well thought out decision. Not to mention in USA it's Thanksgiving week, and therefore some folks are with family or even possibly going out on the biggest shopping day of the entire year.

To be honest, this is just as silly as players expecting GST to now all of a sudden be hosted every 48 hours.

And to be fair, players have been begging for more frequent tourneys rather then having to wait 3 months for a tourney.

I think Classic staff has a good handle on how to host and imo do a great job with it to where they can successfully host at least once a month.

Having said all that, great job keeping up with the updates, they are all great ideas/updates. This was just a timing mistake imo.

Sarah_ 11-26-2016 01:45 PM

I made a new guild and we went from ~ 2k pts to 6200+ in 2-3h, it really isn't hard to get pts (sparred not so high pts guilds + lost twice). It is just hard at the beginning then it goes fast.

Kuz 11-26-2016 02:14 PM

GST Day final predictions:

It's GST Day so time to post these final day predictions...I'll do iDevice for now and Mixed later:

1) RD - Any team with Dark can be seen as a major threat so I see them going far...especially with sparrers like Noss and Kicko supporting him I honestly don't see how it's possible for them to lose. Also like last week they said they beat BTW 8-2 so this just reinforces what I predict.

2) Amity- They have 3 ex-winners (Fro, Inco and Crime) on their team. I'm sure these 3 can use their experience of winning GST in the past to mentor the rest of their team and make sure they reach top 3.

3) Silver- They pro+been together a long time they always gonna be a top 3 prediction.

Honorable mentions:

4) RS=pro

5) WaV=WaV is a team that definitly will only reach 5th place...just look at their roster. Toich will have to carry them! They have guys like Denny who lost 10-2 to dark in a series. They have Callum+Alex who have a dustbin as their WiFi...I honestly don't see them coming top 3. They should have put Sour on their team since she beat Deicide last GST and did good in her spars...she should replace someone like Callum.

Swifty J. 11-26-2016 02:28 PM

Mixed:
1. Holy
2. Whitebeard
3. Immortal or TEAM BEER (Really depends if they're drunk or not lol.)

IDev:
1. Silver
2. WaV
3. Amity

Just my guess.

IMO if the GST would be every month, the GST wouldn't be as rare/cool/special/fun as it is now.

Doesn't have to be same concept every month. Rotate out a guild spar event each month or quarter. For many who qualify and attend GST go inactive for approximately 2 months for next GST. Which in my experience means there is a lack of content for the players who are actually participating.

Darkk 11-26-2016 11:20 PM

Den .5 in under 30 seconds each spar, chokes leaving jose alone. Wav surprised me, den cost them the gst tho. I keep saying he's the worst non noob delayer...

Brett 11-26-2016 11:28 PM

Did horrible, got carried /afk 3 months

Cxll 11-26-2016 11:38 PM

What's with this tie bs were we have 1.5 and .5 and they had 1 and we tied

Alex R 11-26-2016 11:41 PM

We did well , especially against silver. The first round tie was my fault. I got like 4 hits. Second round we had more health and somehow tied lol, waiting on the recording to see for sure tho. Is there a new rule that all matches that last through till timer are automatically ties? If it wasn't for this we would have won 2-1. Third round we lost. Fourth round we choked a 4v3 with nearly double their health collectively RIP. But still , we won 2 rounds

Bryan* 11-26-2016 11:47 PM

So who won

Fulgore 11-26-2016 11:47 PM

Felt like I did really well personally. Really happy that TEAM BEER had fun and pulled through. Unlucky bracket, ggs and gratz to Holy. Huge shoutout to Dante for basically running the whole points process for us and stepping in for practice and the round vs. Holy. Thank you to all who helped us gs and pulled for us.

TEAM BEER

Alex R 11-26-2016 11:49 PM

They won in the end.

David 11-26-2016 11:57 PM

Thought we'd win it all after that 1 round we won, had really good teamwork and I enjoyed this tournament. I think I did pretty well vs Holy, looking forward to see the replay

Zideruic 11-26-2016 11:58 PM

It was a really fun tournament doin' it with a new team. I think we did pretty good! GG Holy and GG everyone else

Zetectic 11-27-2016 12:07 AM

That Thallen, Johns vs. Dae was amazing.

Areo 11-27-2016 12:08 AM

Can't wait for the replay, missed everything but the finals

P1 11-27-2016 12:12 AM

Really interesting GST this time around, a lot of good teams participated. Congratulations to Holy on deservedly winning the finals, we had a few opportunities to time out and win by HP. Unfortunately we couldn’t capitalise on them as Thallen was doing really well and managed to bail his team out of trouble. Also think there was some poor sportsmanship by one of the players on their team in the final to throw up the belt even after being carried by his team mates for the majority of the rounds but it's whatever.

mithos 11-27-2016 12:15 AM
