I'm just curious as to why everyone is so concerned about a set of hats that they'll most likely never acquire, let alone wear. The ones who WILL win this GST aren't defined by these hats, and even if they dislike them, they'll STILL be less inclined to complain about it than some of you.

Fair enough, the graphics team aren't oblivious this (believe it or not!) I think it's just an experimental phase in regards to the hats.

Just don't allow people to convince you guys to create direct ripoffs of US hats if we're going in the nose/wings direction
I know people salivate at the mouth over looking like pr0 sparr3rz of the past, but I'd hate to look like an imitation and other US members wouldn't want that either

I think the actual variety of hats on the Mixed side was really good
Sun did a good job with the muskateer hat, wonder if they'd allow us to simply recolor it if I sent the hat in because the Alumni hat collection is literally 100% blue/red

Well im not against so

Cool, they might not even want it recolored, I'll ask maybe
Also, red and blue are the colors represented most on the Graal pallet so I guess it makes sense we have so many in that color

A lot of good points made but if you'd like to see changes more rapidly then verbally express what it is you'd like to see. Recommend keeping it short and to the the point, using tact.

I honestly don't care enough to give examples of what I'd love to see in a GST hat because GST to me is just fun and competitive. I appreciate the hats as art from those who designed it.

@AdminTeam:
  • Maybe create a forumpost/news with hat ideas to be voted on, size, style, Colors, etc. but being very descriptive. In addition, allowing players to also post some creations of their own to allow the public to also vote on.
  • I do think 1st place teams should get a hat ticket like UN does. This allows the player to UPLOAD any hat, basically a tower hat.
  • I also think it would be neat to see a finals for the idev and mixed winners to have a best of 5's for a prize of Gralats or a VIP voucher for 3 months(?) and a GST Trophy (similar to GST winners belts).
Finally must say the sparring system needs incentives. My recommendation first would be to form a focus group with different minded players who are relevant to the sparring community. (Require min. of 25k spars). This focus group would need a moderator/staff member that is relevant to the sparring community as well to be able to keep it focused and on track. Then it finally would rest on the classic team's shoulders to follow through with the implementation process. I think we'd have ready, eager, and willing volunteers for it, just a thought.

Sorry for long post. =(
P.S.
:hug

Will be viewed as a biased opinion, but I agree
I feel like 1 thing that is missing is personalization... Maybe not even a hat ticket, but just the ability to have staff alter a hat to put your guild colors or symbol on it

GST hats have this weird thing where some of them are just hard to distinct from any other hat, like Predation's fruit bowl is a well-made hat and it's nice, but you'd never know it came from winning a GST
Just feels like some level of personalization would fix that, but this isn't something that graphics staff can act on so I'm sure they do their best until then

It happens for some people already but probably because 'the squeaky wheel gets the oil'.

*some customization.

However having a hat ticket would allow you to upload a custom guild colored or symbol on it if Alumni, oops I mean if the first place team chooses that.

Well, I got Sun, who's staff and made our 1st place hat this season, to recolor and change the symbol on the front of our hat. Leah is telling me that hat edits are not accepted, although many hats in the past have been edited, even for guilds that didn't place 1st.

I'm pretty sure this rule comes from a bunch of 3rd place guilds were crying for edits. Kinda douchey, IMO, to not upload a hat that staff made and edited, for a guild that has placed in 9 GSTs, settled with many dookie hats, and never until now asked for a single edit (although many 2nd and 3rd place guilds have had edits in the past).

TL;DR: Don't ask for hat edits anymore because Leah will not upload them.

if theres an align issue or some kind of serious issue with gst hat, they allow edits. ur hat was well made with no errors, that's prob why.

Thallen 12-06-2015 06:13 PM

Nope, can name a few guilds that have had their hat edited, had things added to it and changed, but won't because it's rude to call it out and put them at risk of having it reversed or something like that

If the staff member who made the hat does it by request then I honestly don't see what the issue is

But the dev that made it edited it herself... The hat is made for the people that place and it's just pointless if the winner will never wear the hat. I'm pretty sure that a few guilds who have GST hats managed to get their hats edited e.g. having GST engraved or just minor differences... Oh well tough luck.

Zetectic 12-06-2015 06:17 PM

idk lolz. alumni having A engraved on their hat with a new color isn't a big deal tbh.
cmon leah, dont be liek dis.

iClassic:

-The type of server where staff have hours of free time to look through LOTS of Christmas hats but no time to upload a edited GST hat-

Thallen 12-06-2015 06:27 PM

I really don't mind much, I'm just posting so no one else wastes another dev's time and gets them to edit their own hat which then won't be uploaded (sorry Sun)
All of our hats have been red or blue, we just wanted some variety so she recolored it to green ("But you picked the hat yourself!" Ya, we didn't want tweety bird or a hot dog...)
If the symbol change was too extra, we would have settled with the old one

Had I known that there was some random timeframe where edits would be accepted, I'd have had some of our hats from the past changed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
