I was suggesting that it would benefit the game to foster more artists. They constantly complain about how they are so few and far between, yet zero effort is made to access the talent around them.

Not once in any of the related arguments did I say anything about myself, complain about not winning, getting compared to other artists, or suggest that anyone else had it easy. It seems my point went right over your head.

How about we bring back graal polls (i dont think it ever existed on classic tho) and players can vote for what they want in their gifts. But in that case i wouldnt get voted

Is "they" the staff? If so, I don't see how they constantly complain. Actually, I don't see how they need to "access the talent around them" in the first place. They just wanted some content so they spiced it up by letting people submit their own work to have a shot at seeing it in game. Nothing more, nothing less. Then, as usual at this time of year, there's another flame war on this exact topic for no reason. It isn't a biased contest (at least on Classic it isn't), and they have multiple people judging, which explains that some content not accepted last year will show up this year, as nothing can be objective when it comes to judging art. As for repetitive content, so what? They wanted to vary the gifts based on desirability, so they threw some old **** in there to make that happen. But guess what? There is also new stuff, and that's what everyone hopes to get. Some are happy, some aren't, but that's the entire point of the gifting algorithm. Same goes for this contest.

There is quite a bit of chatter regarding the lack of developers - specifically when players ask for new content. Quality art assets take time to create. Fostering untapped artists willing to create content would allow for more to be accomplished. More content getting created would lead to more users, more interest, and more revenue. I don't see what the matter is. But guess what? There are dozens of items and hats released every year that are ugly or don't match the rest of the game world's style because there are no quality artists with time available to ... wait a second... :P

Classic has a well enforced style integrity. I respect the team for not giving into the temptation of hiring a bunch of inexperienced artists who don't match Classic's style like Zone did so many years ago. Also, what you're talking about has nothing to do with the staff or administration. It's primarily a community issue. I'm not saying it doesn't exist, but it certainly isn't the developers' job to raise artists from seedlings, especially when they have more on their plates than they can handle (considering your dev scarcity theory).

Are you suggesting there be a sort of development academy/apprenticeship program? Actually, that sounds badass but unrealistic. I've worked in the graphics and levels departments on multiple servers, and there isn't enough time in the day for this sort of solution.

That's exactly what I was suggesting. In the short term it seems to be inefficient, but in the long run it would produce returns with interest on time spent.
