MementoJoker 09-04-2012 02:39 PM

Do you act like your online personality in real life?

Well, I can't say I really do.
I act more quiet in real life, because most of my class are materialistic, dumb brats. However, I am obliged to act like I like them for my own personal gain. (School reputation etc.). I also never share my views on religion, because last time I did, I was kicked out of the class by my teacher..
However, I act like I do here with my best friends and/or close friends.
They all know that I am quite good with computers and some try to bribe me to hack their friends. (Yes, they are that stupid.)
I act mature around the mature ones and vice versa.

V. 09-04-2012 04:58 PM

That's actually a really good question. Most of the brats on here won't act like that in real life.

I'm waaaaay more confident on a game than in society. I hate that.

MementoJoker 09-04-2012 05:34 PM

Yeah, same. I am always "fake", even with my girlfriend, I've never told her about my online life etc.

Psycher! 09-04-2012 07:03 PM

For me, it depends on who I'm with. If I'm with my best friends, it's about the same as my in-game persona except with less religion jokes. Around random people I don't know, I'm sit of an isolated and quiet individual. Basically, if I don't know you, I'm quiet. If I do know you, I'm a lovable freak. ^-^

Pimpsy G. 09-04-2012 07:18 PM

I'm usually a socially awkward piece of crap that has barley any friends and I doesn't give a **** about anything in my life. But I like to act like I'm a relatively sophisticated person on here just to make me feel better and forget about how pathetic of a person I am in real life, oh well.

Blueh 09-04-2012 08:17 PM

How do you get kicked out of class for sharing your religious views? I thought they can't punish you for doing that unless you ended up starting a nasty argument. Meh, I guess I can say I'm half and half. I half act like I do on real life on here and I half act like I do on here irl. Depends who I'm with. Sometimes I'm just shut out quiet irl and on here ignoring everyone. But of course, the most effective explosives are usually silent until used. So yeah I'd get bursts of energy and charisma. Needless to say, I have my moments... On here and out there...*shady eyes*

Do you know Egypt? It's an extremely religious country..
No one knows I'm agnostic except you guys here, lol.
I asked the teacher: "Are there any miracles Muhammed has performed in front of people?"
Btw, Pimpsy, are you still a school student? Or have you graduated?

Talon 09-04-2012 08:35 PM

No. Over the years, the online persona I've created is just an emulation of how I'd like to act offline.

The teacher is a psycho, I accidentally used 2 tissues to wipe out the water, which fell on the floor, he lectured me about the importance of the tissues, which tok half an hour..

I am kind of introverted, too. All my friends go to the club on Thursday (a.k.a Friday for the non-Middle Eastern).
However, I stay at home, order McDonald's, go on Graal or play PS3 or something, unless I meet up with my equally introverted friends, then we do same thing..
Almost the whole grade are my "friends", but I'm rarely invited to their outings.. Maybe because of the fact that I don't smoke, or something or maybe because I am "less-cool" than them or I am too nerdy sometimes..

Wow. I'm sure a regular answer would've been better than just kicking you out of the classroom. Oh well. That's religion for ya.

MementoJoker 09-04-2012 08:43 PM

And also the whole class raged on me, when we had this counselor, because of the fights in class, so we made a scale and she had sentences written on papers, which you have to put between 0-100, according to how much this offends you.
So it was my turn, when she gave me a paper which read: Someone insults my religion.
I added it on 0 and they all raged so hard..

It doesn't really matter what the insult may or may not be. If you go through life thinking everyone is going to be nice to you, HEH...I got news for you. I don't see how it makes someone a non-believer by not getting offended by insults to your religion? Humility is part of life.

If people think they can live their life without insult, go on 9gag or reddit. Or any forum- Hell, go on THIS forum. See how long that lasts.

Kiwi 09-04-2012 09:39 PM

I'm far more outgoing on the Internet... And recently I've noticed its kind of creeping in to my RL personality. So I'm happy. I can do more stuff.

Nope. I'm super shy and don't say anything irl, I'm a complete troll online xD

MrSimons 09-05-2012 02:26 AM

Not at all, in real life I am that lonely gamer with a few friends. But I am glad I am so, I would hate to be "popular", all them cool kids seem like douches to me. Plus they are the people I make fun of on the Internet so.

Gamelova 09-05-2012 02:41 AM

Lol I'm a totally different person in real life.

Blueh 09-05-2012 02:42 AM

0_o wow. I'm actually friends with a lot of I guess what you'd all call "popular" kids. But not all of them are as bad as they seem or may appear. A lot of people I hang out with at school could be classified as jocks and whatnot. But are some of them actually ass****s? Yes, yes there are some real ones out there just being mean to everyone. It's usually them who give the cooler, more nicer ones a bad name.

Chaotic 09-05-2012 02:55 AM

I was always the "funny guy" and hung out with what you would say were popular kids. I had to be friends with everyone, and if I wasn't I'd try to get to know them. If someone was mad at me or didn't like me, it really bothered me. I guess that transfers into my "Graalsona", as I'm the same way. Oh, and I've always been kind of a ladies man without trying to be, I just kind of flirt without realising it, and went through tons of relationships, which definitely transferred over. So yeah, for the most part I behave as I do in real life.

Talon 09-05-2012 03:53 AM

Offline, I'm that kid that always gets the corner desk and doesn't talk to anyone - even during downtime, group activities, or 'mingle sessions'. Usually have my headphones on so no one bothers me. The unfocused kid walking down the halls with a detached expression all the time. Don't get me wrong, I'm perfectly capable of social communication - I'm good with speaking/persuasion/etc, I just hate most of the kids in my school.

Where I live is the epitome of potheads, Beats headphones, and bandwagoning douchebaggery.

That good:bad ratio seems to be evidently higher in girls. I don't see too many 'mean' girls; the ones that happen to be 'mean' are usually the ones dating the D-grade average tools that piss off the teachers in class.

*reads title**reads a few posts**reads title again*... wait a minute why is this thread in the direction as if graal is our main life and our real life is worthless?... uhhhhhh nevermind.

haha anyway i think the better question is "Do you act like your real personality online?"

in this case, id say sorta. IRL, im a very quiet person, few friends (*cough 1), but i act normal and am polite. However in my mind, i have very strong opinions, am sarcastic, creative, good sense of humor. Online, im somewhat less quiet and let my sarcasm n opinions come out.

I don't mean to sound "emo" or whatever you wanna call it but I have a feeling it's because games can be a lot more appealing than real life, and frankly real life can be pret ****ty .and games can cause quite a bit of pleasure especially Graal like it or not. It gives you the feeling of freedom and being able to make your own decisions which most people can't have in real life. Not only that but its a lot easier to make friends on the internet than real life. Sorry for going off topic.

DragonRider 09-05-2012 06:13 AM

No, I'm usually polite and nice (like the tipping hat kind). But sometimes I do, I WILL point out why I think you're an idiot.

Talon 09-05-2012 06:24 AM

That's another thing. I'm not a Grammar Nazi/prove-you-wrong type guy in real life as opposed to online. I find it rude (and unbearable) to point out others' mistakes. One example is when someone told me that my Etymotic HF5 was an earbud (actually an IEM) and that earbuds are generally bad for your hearing - also that he hates when people call earbuds 'headphones'. He's wrong on all three statements, but hey; I keep my mouth shut in those instances. Not so much for him; he's still a know-it-all type guy. Like Sheldon Cooper. Except he's not too smart; he just knows useless trivia.

Online, it's a different story. If I see a mistake, I make a list of why you were wrong and occasionally get mad for it and call you an idiot or a result of inbreeding. Well...

Anonymity corrupts.

bobtheawsomekid 09-05-2012 06:47 AM

Well, if anyone acts the same in this game then in real life, they would Probibly get there face smashed in.

Latte 09-05-2012 07:50 AM

Interesting question, I actually never thought about this.

In real life, I'm an outsider from my class. I go to a small Catholic all girls school, and have gone through a lot of people for friends. xD Literally - I've been best friends with people at least once from every clique in my class, and all of those friendships ended dramatically, whether over small stupid things to prejudice or even religious discrimination(you'd figure it wouldn't happen to a Catholic going to a Catholic school xD Anyway, that's a whole different story entirely). o3o I mean, it's not that people hate me; I'm recognized for my artistic talents. But that's pretty much it.

Online, I'm way more social-- I'm myself. So, I guess not, I don't act the same in real life as I do online.

Billy 09-05-2012 01:03 PM

I act about the same,Im a class clown, got a few popular friends and I'm the pretty average boy. I brought graal to my grade so I got like 15+ people to play. Anyways,I don't think I act different, despite this grammar,If you talked proper-like in my school you'd probably be verbally bullied by some douchebags/jocks. Oh by the way I'm on the football team but I'm not a jock I just enjoy the sport.

And also I'd like to add,I hate when people on the internet make fun of people with style. In other words "swag" <--I don't like that word.
But some of us care about our appearance,It basically describes who you are.

FaZ3 09-06-2012 02:04 AM

In real life I'm a total class clown. I am the opposite of uptight, probably one of the chillest people you will meat. I am most liked by most of the kids at my school. I'm not really popular but most people know me. I do well with the ladies, not trying to act cocky or anything.. But yeah, Also i'm not athletic whatsoever. I'm really artistic and most of the kids think of me as like a professional artist or some art god.. So yeah that's pretty much how I am irl

I would love to do that, but I'm a year younger than most of my class and a foot shorter. I'd get my ass kicked.

Blueh 09-06-2012 04:13 AM

I'm taller than most of my classmates. I find it funny when people size me up. Like no, just sit your ass back down. But I would probably never hit someone unless they start it. Knowing how to start a fight isn't important, knowing how to end one is.

I can, actually. I just don't find it necessary to correct everyone, like Talon said with the guy who told him wrong facts.. I find it sometimes rude to correct everyone on anything and this will only get you hated, even if you have good intentions.. However, online, it's a completely different story, you won't get hated for correcting someone or criticizing someone's idea..
I only correct, when someone corrects me and it his correction doesn't make sense (illogical).
I had a fight with one of the "popular girls" in the class, who started to fight with me, when I told her that a decimeter is longer than a meter..
I will still correct you, but only if necessary... And I don't usually participate in political/religious arguments, because people never admit their mistakes and at the end of the decimeter/meter argument, when she noticed how stupid she is, she told me to screw off.. So yeah, picking up fights with idiots will get you nothing.. This is the reason why I don't continue arguing with such people online, too. (Romario, eric, Alexei, Lord Mafia etc.)

Billy 09-06-2012 11:15 PM

Ohh,but that's not really what I meant, sorry. People talk so much **** behind screens and they're probably little nerds feeling tough harassing people online. That's what I meant. But yeah if you correct people 24/7 in school people will get pissed.

Hopefully Talon and Pazx don't really act like that. lulllzzz(Correcting people a lot)
