Graal for Android

Please make GraalOnline Classic for Android, it will make me very happy! Thank you!

Infernus Lapse 11-13-2012 01:44 AM

If it were only that easy.

KingstarFTW 11-13-2012 01:45 AM

All they have to do is change the extension to .apk and then boom! Google Play Store.

Infernus Lapse 11-13-2012 01:48 AM

Um, really? I dont script but that sounds a little too easy.

Aserus 11-13-2012 02:03 AM

Lol it's way more complicated than that. It's not like iOS with 9 or 10 similar devices, there are hundreds of android devices, each with different specs.

KingstarFTW 11-13-2012 02:07 AM

Ok, just make it for the HTC One X first, then add other devices later on.

The Doctor 11-13-2012 02:33 AM

That's how all 1337 programs do it. Change the file extension.

Graal can make 1 APK to support all devices.

If it were that easy, I'd already be playing android graal.

This is a project that was meant to be released in April(?).

Ozzy_Magus 11-13-2012 05:44 AM

Its a real shame graal isn't out on android already.

Here are the big News:

1) We are opening a Free To Play Facebook/Web version of Graal Classic and Graal Era.

To make Graal easy to install we have ported the Graal V6 client to Flash technology: Graal V6 client is now fully web based and can run inside the Flash Player 10 on Windows, Mac and Linux.

We are planning to give the opportunity to PlayerWorld owners to move to Free To Play either. We will soon give a list of requirements to move a server Free To Play.

Tomorrow Monday 21 March: We will open a private Beta to test Graal Classic on facebook: Some Graal staff will be invited to be part of this Beta.

Monday 28 March: We will open the Beta test to more beta testers including the 3 winners of my “guess” contest, we will also open Graal Era Facebook version.

Monday 4 April: We will open Graal Classic facebook to Graal Classic iPhone VIP Players. We will explain the iPhone VIP subscription later this week.

If everything runs smoothly with all these steps we will open more Graal Classic/Era Servers and open these servers to everyone.

2) We are releasing the new V6 client for Windows, Mac and Linux
We will release in the forthcoming weeks (First weeks of April) the new native V6 client to everyone.

3) We are releasing an Android version
The Android release will come either in April

4) New developer tools
New Developer Tools including level editor will be released in Mai and June

The Winners of the Guess contest are:
ReptarKingOfTheOZone
LordSquirt
Chompy
Winners, please contact me by mail (unixmad at graalonline.com) with your facebook ID

Please keep the thread clean and try to make creative and interesting comments.

Thanks.

Wow, Staff are hard workers and are very good at their work on all servers, but this is just slack. Come on its November 2012, this needs to be done and dusted!

GotenGraal 11-13-2012 02:59 PM

Make it happen already. Not trying to sound rude but it's been a long time it's been talked about already and I know it's even been tested. If it sparks any of your hopes I did pm Stefan about a month ago asking if it would probably be done before 2013 and he said yes. I didn't take screenshots or anything so you'll have to take my word. Although even with him saying it'd most likely be out before 2013 I still have my doubts since it was supposed to release a long time ago and didn't. Android's gotten popular it's time for Graal to be ported over there like all the other mmo type apps.

Graal ran well enough on my old Desire on an older source-code branch which lacked a lot of the optimisations the source code has now. It ran quite well on my Galaxy Nexus as well as my Galaxy 10.1.

The only issues I had was the GUI didn't scale well to the higher res but that's an easy enough fix :)

It will be released on Android eventually. I know Skyld has tested it on a couple of his Android devices as well.

If your phone lags you should probably look into getting a custom ROM for it.

Twinny makes completing it sound pretty easy.

Somebody has been doing a lot of beta testing with the Andriod Client as of late. I'm hoping to see it out soon.

Also, no, do not ask to Beta test the Andriod client. No, I can not give you that permission. No, I'm not the person beta-testing. Do not ask me anything in regards to Graal for Andriod as I have no answers what-so-ever to give. You are all currently on the same page of information as I am. Hope that answers all future questions.

Imprint 11-14-2012 02:47 PM

GotenGraal 11-14-2012 04:16 PM

Ahh so it's being worked on hard lately that's all I was hoping to hear! Thanks!

Ghettoicedtea 11-20-2012 04:41 PM

Honestly no. If era servers can hardley hold 1.5k people what makes you think they will be able to hold 2-4k players? Lag level over 9000

Also i tend to notice that androids can hack games much easier than ios devices.

If graal can make graal virtualy hacker proof and servers can be able to hold a capacity of 10k people with lag like it is now. Then im all for it

Its already in the process and iOS is more popular I believe so adding it for android will be a decent increase in players but I doubt anything crazy like 3k or 4k players.

Android is more popular than iOS.

I find that hard to believe honestly. Everybody I know at school has an iPhone, and very few people (maybe 3 that I've met, ever) have an Android.

Interestingly enough, the three people I've met with Androids have all been adults. While Android may ultimately be more popular than iOS, I think that iOS is far more popular at least with the minors crowd, which is pretty much what Graal is aimed at.

Android have a little over 70% of the market share this quarter.

But what does that matter is 60% of the Android market belongs to adults and only 10% belongs to kids?

Pazx 11-21-2012 02:27 AM

You realize 60 + 10 doesn't equal 100, right Matt?

KingstarFTW 11-26-2012 11:41 PM

Just a note. Even if creating Graal for Android would require a huge budget spending, Graal would gain back more money than they used to make the app because of the great multitude of people with an Android Device.
