Dear GraalOnline Classic Staff,

As some of you might have seen, a few weeks ago I was working on a complete new look (the same as my sig). I spent 1 week on the head and put a lot of effort into it. I uploaded my graphics onto DeviantArt and made sure to un check the "download file" box. This means that people cannot download the file that I uploaded to my account for everyone to view. I put links on the post so people could view my head and C&C it. Then, I started on the body, but dropped it for a while due to sports, tests, and a nuclear science course I had to do lots of work for.
So today, I log onto Graal Classic and chat with my guild, as usual. I am walking around Graal City, bored out of my mind, and I see a person with MY graphics. Stolen. Here is some info on the player:
Name: KRAKATOA (but when I PM'd him he changed his name to "dlkokoklko" and changed his look)
Guild: He put on a "The Best Frenchies" tag.
Extra Info: He had ~350k gralats. I know these are hacked gralats because he showed me how he had done it, he had been in my guild a month before.
I uploaded my graphics to DeviantArt.com to my acc ShaunDaBomb. (For the whole thing, search for a thread "new animal look") I un checked the download button for the files, so nobody could steal it. I know as NYN said, when you upload a file to Graal, it is shared with the community and anybody can take it and upload it on their own. But, I had NOT uploaded it to Graal, neither Classic nor Era. And because the head is 100% original, there is no way that anybody could have the file, unless they hacked into my personal email.
I am asking Staff to remove the head and body from player "KRAKATOA" account, and not allow him to re upload it. I put a lot of hard work into it, and it was so far, my best. I had posted links onto this forum for C&C, not to get my art stolen. Please do something about this. Also, if any of you would like to know, he is the player that uploaded the "mini noob" look and spammed the upload and kept getting it rejected.
I hope you take this into notice quickly. If I can provide any further information, I will be happy to help. This has become a widespread problem, and I think new restriction measures should be placed unto the upload system, making it impossible to steal graphics that have not been uploaded by the original owner first.

Thank You,
Shaun "DaBomb" MysTė

P.S. I can quickly find his Graal#, so if that helps, please reply.

If you made the completed image viewable, it's easy to download regardless of what the website may tell you. If it displays it as a .jpg .png or whatever, it's a simple right click -> save as. If it displays it in some kind of control (flash, silverlight), can nicely printscreen and re-save it (among some more advanced methods ( decompilation, asset browsing etc.)

If you people can see it on the internet, they can most likely take it.

As for the actual issue, you need to take it up with [email protected] as no support can be provided here.

Thank you Twinny. I'll email after school. And yes, I knoe that but I personally tried downloading the whole page and with no success. Right click doesn't work either.

NYN 10-11-2011 06:53 PM

Tyler 10-11-2011 08:08 PM

If he posts it on DeviantArt doesn't it already get copyrighted once he posts?

it's his.

NYN 10-12-2011 01:05 AM

But it's not copyrighted at the U.S. Copyright Office? Nothing much I can do since you posted it online.

Rexx 10-12-2011 01:07 AM

All I did was right-click and save, sorry dude.

seriously man? wow
you obviously have the power to just refund the stuff the guy stole but you're gonna act like this?

NYN 10-12-2011 01:16 AM

Actually I don't have the power I am not an uploader but it would be kind of pointless for me to ask since it's not technically copyrighted.

The word "license" means the "freedom to do something." So when you give a company a license to use your art, that means you're giving them the freedom or ability to use your art in a certain way, on a certain type of product, for a certain period of time, and with certain restrictions on usage.

Another key concept has to do with the difference between "copyrights" and "reproduction rights." While you own the copyright to your art for 75 or 90 years from the time you created it -- whether or not you've registered that copyright with the U.S. Copyright Office -- you also own the reproduction rights to your art. That means that no one can reproduce your art without your OK.

What Sort of Things are Copyrighted?

The easy answer to this question is that just about any creative work you might find should be considered to be copyrighted by default.

A work is not required to have a copyright statement printed on it or near it in order to be considered copyrighted so do not assume that the work is unprotected simply because you cannot see a notice written anywhere.

Also do not confuse the fact that a work is publicly available with the idea that it is public domain or free for use. Being easy to find on the internet does not affect a work's copyrighted status.

This shouldn't even need to be brought up however, the principle alone is bad enough.

PerfectDark 10-12-2011 01:45 AM

only thing i see is that you should contact [email protected] since he is the manager/PWA, or just [email protected], plus the fact the guy who uploaded your art makes him a noob since it is technolly Stolen images without the orginal creator giving permission for use x.x
