Un-neccessary jail time
 

Yes there is a need for this thread, yes I have emailed snk. Yes I have used feedback. Feedback doesn't work in jail. If you have nothing helpful to say, don't say it.
So, yesterday my brother was USDing on his account. He gets himself jailed. Now, I was out the whole day, so I couldn't have been playing on my iTouch. The staff member who jailed my brother jailed the IP. Now me and my two sisters can't play Era for another 165 hours. We did nothing wrong - we also shouldn't have to suffer because of my brothers actions.

See, I don't understand these IP jails... I have a brother who (just as a scenario) can get us both IP jailed because of a stupid act, like you brought up. It's ridiculous how there's no real solution to any of these problems, if you jail the account they use a second account, if you IP jail then sibling are bashed for no reason.

You see we have given out warnings saying if they do somthing on your account it's still your fault for letting them on it, and also we have no proof it was your brother or if you even have a brother so your going to have to wait, sorry

you know what? I've been jailed 12 times (hehe) and I have not recived 1 warning of any of them. not even a pm from staff. so whats up?

Re-read my post. He did it on HIS account. If I really do have a brother, which I do, that can be proved with the IP! Also, I didn't get a single warning. Thanks alot, Era staff, You're REAL helpful.

I know you're irritated, but calm down. I deduce that the IP jailing is what they've always done. I guess what needs to be done is account jailing, instead of blocking a whole computer via IP.

A lot of the time no warnings are given... It's pretty stupid.

He said they weren't sharing accounts. Their IPs match because their ranges are similar (likely because they reside in the same household) but not their accounts. Thus there is no reason he should be jailed for what his brother did.

I think they used to just account jail. But now, since we've got the identify system, they abolished that since you could just log out of your email.

Maybe their sister banned you.

Not a bad system. It just backfires when the banned person has siblings. Unfortunately I cannot think of another solution, since UDIDs aren't used. I will say that it isn't fair to those siblings who haven't done anything wrong though.

Well, the jailing is fair imo, the duration seems excessive
However I would certainly look into getting yours reduced considerably and beat the living crap out of your siblings ^-^

Seems Snk served the time out, we'll have to see about getting you to the exception of this jail, i'd unjail but you'd get rejailed upon sign in I believe.

use vpn(virtual private network) so you can change your ip and play.

Not really, we decided being jailed was actually worse than being banned, so rather than having two systems, we just have one.

I'd understand if it was 160 hours being banned, he wouldn't have to sign in. However since he physically has to leave his device on for 13 days, it is rather not nice.

Email [email protected] or whatever era's email is. My whole school go banned like this. 40+ people banned because my school has ipads. :P

Really? I always thought banning was more effective. So are people jailed for the same amount of time that they would have been banned?

In regards to the first part; banning has never really been all that effective, people can just get banned, leave the game for awhile, come back as if nothing happened, it's barely a punishment.
Jailing on the other hand, you physically have to suffer through the jailing, making it a little more of a threat to people to ensure they will follow the guidelines and rules on the server more thoroughly.

We don't jail them for the same period of time, far from it infact. Most of our jailings are done on an automatic basis (via our warning system) so after three warnings, you end up going to jail for a set time depending on the warnings. (Hacking is an automatic jail, regardless of number of warnings).
We also jail manually for things like abusing invincibility to block doors, hacking of a major degree, real money trading (This is a biggy).


Think the most i've jailed someone for personally was 50000 minutes, this was meant to remove them from the game however as they were continuously stealing accounts over a long period of time and had no intention of stopping (I'm sure most of you have heard of the Edo guy?).

Now do me a favor and tell me or at least explain me why duke has boosted so many times (everyone knows), has stolen accoounts and gets to keep all his stats, including his 380k pk's which are from like Idk how many accounts.
You guys have a system on how to punish people, however there are some exceptions, like duke who does what he wants, doesn't get jailed/reset/banned for ***.
Y'know I quit era cuz of that feg having 30k-2k spars, boosted like a f*****, has 380k pk's from like 5 accounts, and he still hasn't been reset. Unforgivable to me.(not your fault).
Just wanted to remind you guys that if you have rules, they have to applicate to everyone, even those f*** who suck the staff's ****.

totally out of topic...but does anyone know how to reset spar ratio? i ****ed mine big time and i heard that there is an npc that gives you an option to reset spar...anyone know where i can find this npc?

When in the game, click on yourself, when your profile opens click edit, click on identify, click the bottom button that says feedback, click back and the main menu will open, you can then view the news.

*facepalm* what do you not get by you cant use feedback in jail

In regards to Duke, he did get reset - though I believe it was found that several of his friends gave him accounts rather than them actually being stolen from other players.
I don't know if we have rules on boosting, i've not seen anything specific.

I've not seen Snk to ask - I could unjail you but you'd have to use a different IP Address

Listen here, I currently have an account jailed on Era, I know what I'm talking about. Unless you can prove that you can't get to the main menu to view the news by how I explained it then you can say something about it. Yes you can not feedback anything as it will give you the message "You can not use feedback while in Jail." But what he was wanting to do is view the news.
