Best video game console of all time

What in your opinion is the best video game console of all time? Probably excluding pc gaming, since that is a constantly evolving one.

I would have to give it to the Gameboy Advance SP.
http://www.gearlive.com/blogimages/specialgbas.jpg

It was dirt cheap, very small, had a clamshell design so it protected the screen, backlit screen, came in a zillion colors. Durable as hell. And the best part, had the best game library of any console ever. Every great game up to that point from any console was ported to gameboy advance. And the original games? Pokemon, advance wars, golden sun, minish cap, metroid fusion (one of the best games of all time), Castlevania. The list goes on.

Mainly It gets my pick just because i think it is the coolest looking system ever.:D

Beholder 10-15-2011 10:46 PM

Super Nintendo

Your game boy advance was an attempt to make a portable SNES.

Gamelova 10-15-2011 10:53 PM

NINTENDO 3DS! LOL. I'd say, Gameboy Advance SP also.

It wasn't dirt cheap, it was 130$. What'cha talkin' about? Pfft.

MrSimons 10-15-2011 11:14 PM

Gameboy Advance, i still play mine a decent amount of time.

PulsE 10-15-2011 11:16 PM

GAMEBOY aDVANCE

Gamecube.

Skill 10-16-2011 12:44 AM

Probably the xbox(Original,not 360)

Kavan 10-16-2011 01:17 AM

I liked the DreamCast.

Maikeru 10-16-2011 02:19 AM

Game boy Advance and Nintendo DS aren't consoles.

MrSimons 10-16-2011 02:25 AM

How r they not consoles

Beholder 10-16-2011 03:18 AM

Technically while I would not consider them consoles either- they are 'portable consoles'.

Chaotic 10-16-2011 04:05 AM

Playstation original or gameboy color

Dusty 10-16-2011 04:23 AM

SNES is probably easily going to be it, but I personally never had one so I just don't have the same attachment/nostalgic value for it, even though I've played a lot of the games.

GBA and it's various alternations is a good choice. It had a long life, huge library of games, and it's friggin' portable! It was an amazing improvement over the GB/GBC.

However, I'd have to say PS2. I love my Gamecube, but PS2 just had too much going for it.

I dont think you understood his reference cat

Skill 10-16-2011 03:58 PM

The iPod Touch was not originally targeted towards being a gaming platform. Then it slowly started being popular for games because of their low prices and ease of download(you could get a lot of free games and 99c games). So apple started making the iOS's graphical power better by giving it more ram/better processor/gpu. Just look at the iPhone 4s and iPad 2.

Oh my god.... YES! I have never seen another person who mentioned a Dreamcast! That was my first system, and then my dad donated it. Nice.
But yeah, my favorite game on that thing was sonic adventure? Forgot the exact title. I think the Wii runs off the Dreamcast processor, GFX, etc, because the stats are VERY similiar.

Console-GameCube
Handheld-GameBoy Advance SP
I was a big fan of the advance wars games :P

MattKan 10-16-2011 07:01 PM

I will say that SNES was the most fun, and N64 was the most revolutionary.

I'm gonna go with N64 lol, but don't quote me on that.

(And the iPod Touch isn't even a gaming platform per say)

Nor does it have anything original, nor does it have anywhere near of a fraction as much of a library of good games as any real gaming console does.

Ok, it has more original games than, say a DS

Er, no. Thats not what i was talking about. It doesnt have any originality in its platform for gaming. All it has is a touch screen and gyroscope controls with a pretty horrible main control interface (Covering up half the 3:5'' screen with your thumbs) when you compare it to other incredible portable platforms like the Playstation Vita or the Nintendo DS. Now when it comes to games, and i mean DECENT games, it doesnt even have a fraction of a percent of decent games compared to the DS. Im not talking about Tiny tower or Graal. Or sub par ports of DS games like the IOS final fantasy series. Im talking about true, AAA complete games like the DS' Phoenix Wright series, Professor Layton series, Pokemon series (of course), Castelvania series, First party games like Kirby: Canvas Curse, LOZ Spirit tracks, and literally THOUSANDS of other great AAA titles.

Ipod touch >nintendo

Nintendo doesn't let any indie devs make games for their systems, which prevents many interesting and original games from reaching their platforms. Plus iphone 4s and ipad 2 have better controls and graphics than the 3ds.

Cat612 10-16-2011 08:17 PM

The AppStore has over 100,000 games only. I'm saying it has far more original games than the DS. Which it does.

Skill 10-16-2011 08:22 PM

In addition I would like to add the iPod touch games are far cheaper than all other systems. Gameloft makes quality games all for under $7 which often go on sale for 99c, and there are lots of great freemium games too.

In case you didn't know...

An iPhone is a cellphone, not a gaming device. It's a good marketing standpoint with the apps, but that's not the point of it! And most apps on the app store are simply not worth it and don't last long.

If you call "bubblewrap" original, then I guess you're right.

Oh and pimple popper, I have to hand it to you with that app.

Let's all go pay $4.99 for a game that does nothing but make assorted fart noises, guys!

So? Just because it has a lot of games doesn't mean they are original. The fact that you have claimed such an absurd thing shows just how little you have actually thought about the subject.

There are many bad games for iPod but also many great ones that are cheap. People can complain that iPods do more than gaming but really that's just like saying the ps3 is a bluray player and not a gaming system. Ipods play games very well all while doing other things like music video and internet.

Saying the ps3 is a bluray player is just stupid. The PS3's main focus is gaming.
The iPod/iPhone's main focus, however, is mp3/phone functionality with random applications thrown in.

Most games on the app store are about flash/facebook game quality. Which is ok, because its a phone.

that system was a huge letdown. the 3d was merely a depth trick and gives me a headache while hardly looking 3d,the games on there aren't very fun, the graphics are dated, and the system can't even fit in my pocket easily. Big fail by nintendo IMO.

I'm just excited for all the remakes of old classic games. As for the 3D, i guess it's all a matter of eye sensitivity, it doesn't give me a headache at all.

Door 10-19-2011 05:20 AM

PS2 had the best game lineup of any console (with the backwards compatibility with PS games included). It'll always get my vote when asked this question. If I could have any console right at this very moment I'd say ps2 without even thinking. Then I'd think "**** I could have chosen ps3, sold it, bought a ps2 and had some profit..."

Crono 10-19-2011 11:40 PM
