Thallen 02-27-2013 11:41 PM

Appreciated thread idea but I'm afraid it won't be received very well on these forums. A good portion of the users who seem interested in spar threads are spiteful iDevice users who completely despite computers. "Other" will easily win the poll for that reason, but even if that wasn't a case it'd end up being a popularity contest. Still a cool thread.

Couple people on the list are pretty inactive and questionable, but I think it's really good overall. Wouldn't consider voting for myself and at the moment I'm not sure who is better out of David and JaCk so I'm not ready to vote.

Comyt 02-28-2013 04:08 AM

thallen as the only person to put up a 5-1 ratio against me. not anymore though ;)

Ryan 02-28-2013 05:33 AM

Not another sparring thread....

P1 02-28-2013 06:36 PM

Its Thallen by a clear country mile.

Admiral 02-28-2013 06:40 PM

Probably Thallen, Ares is a close second though.

Ryan 03-01-2013 10:52 AM

I voted for Rufus. Du i bcum m0d n0w???///???/?/

I am impressed by the choices in this poll, well done.

Any chance of seeing a single spar tournament in the near future?

Thallen as best sparrer?! Aahahhahah. Perhaps that MAAAY be the case since he continues to play Graal, but there were REAL monsters in the general timeframe of 2000-2005 that young lil Thallen respected.

If I remember correctly...there was a Global Spar Tournament that invovled all the servers to compete and the person who won it was a guy named NeoJenova Demigod.

My vote goes to NJ.

It's not hip or cool to pretend like you were relevant in the PC Graal crowd and I see way too many people doing it. The thread is about active sparrers in the iClassic community, so don't try too hard to go out of your way and prove that you played PC Graal at one point in your life. Not impressive, dude. I'd be lying to say I've ever heard of you.

To cite NeoJenova being relevant in 2000 shows you're not exactly a reliable source. Sparrers of 2000 were people like Clops, Nikeboy, Drex, Zyclon, Reiko, shizty, GoldenSlayer, Entrancer, etc. That's not a list of the best, but they are names to consider. Someone like Clops or Pendragon may be the only people around and still semi-active who would be able to confirm that.

From 2002-2008, it was consistently sparrers like Brett, Quick Strike, NeoJenova, Highlander, Halo, Ares, and myself. The EGSL draft results are probably the best measure of who the best sparrers were at that time.

I basically quit PC Graal at around that time, but from the limited amount that I've been able to observe and hear about it seems like Sean, David, Zeross, and JaCk are the most relevant names from that point on.

NJ was obviously good, but if you cite winning the Graalympics as any sort of massive accomplishment then (again) you didn't know much about the 2003 sparring community.

Axion of Shaded Legend
It's a good field of sparrers, but practically every UTC of that time had participants who were just as good (if not better). The way some of you pretenders present the Graalympics to these newer kids really make it seem like it was the biggest and most coveted Graal tournament of all time. It wasn't. It was a fun event. Any fake Graalympics past the original and official one shouldn't even be taken into consideration. I was in the one in 2004 (I think), and I dropped out of the tournament before it even got to my round because the event was being hosted on Delteria and they were very blatantly allowing Tortoise to toggle godmode on and off using one of TRB's trainers. Obviously, he won.

About the poll though, JaCk should have more votes and it's embarrassing that David doesn't have a single vote yet. I respect David, JaCk, and Dante more than anyone sparring right now. Same would go to Brett if he played iClassic. They seem to actually understand that you simply cannot win every spar. They never make excuses. They never brag or complain. They don't try their hardest to prove that they're better than others because they know they are.

NeoJenova wasn't like that, Zeross isn't like that, etc. That's why it's sort of tough for me to really respect those guys after a spar is over with. NJ actually banned someone for beating him in the finals of a UTC.

In conclusion, broadening this thread to be about the best sparrers of all-time doesn't fit this forum because 99.9% of this community started after PC Graal practically died.

Sincerely,
Thallen Enguard, proud user of the no-side-hits hacks

It never ends.

Dae i love his tech, Thallen spars well, fast, doesn't strafe. Rufus, again, doesn't strafe alot.
Prado, need i say why and Winter, winter spars like a qt.

Thallen 03-05-2013 08:07 AM

I think Prado could easily be the best if he came back and sparred. I was away from Graal for a really long time and when I came back he was a Brett-level beast. Hoping to capture him in a bottle for the next GST.

R.I.P. Prado

Yami 03-05-2013 01:45 PM

ya, he was really good, and a good sport, win or lose always was a 'gs'. i miss him alot =[

Yeah, you're right. I was so definitely trying to act hip and cool by stating nothing but real knowledge obtained from playing PC Graal. ohhhh woooee is meeee for pretending to be playing Graal so long ago. Frankly, you probably don't know me and I was a real good sparrer then but considered myself not even the top. I played mostly Shaded Legend and went by Gengarz at some point. And the only times I've heard of your name back then was when you got yourself banned long ago.

How funny it is that you even considered yourself a part of that list of sparrers in 2002-2008. You haven't won a single tournament and neither has any reputable sparring info about you ever passed around. Your Enguard family still has a ways to go compared to the old Mercy family I was in. When was your little "spar" family created? 2005-2006? About the end of the general time frame that I claimed earlier in this thread of real sparrers?

It's cool, just let it all out and keep it moving. I appreciate your insight on this subject, Gengarz (whoever that is). I don't want this thread to turn into an argument because it's the last good sparring thread left.

TheRookie 03-05-2013 08:02 PM

That was manly of you. You win this spar and have avoided super troll attempt.

I found your problem.

Thallen 03-11-2013 01:22 AM

Not necessarily related to this thread but I just stumbled across it on the Graal forums:
http://puu.sh/2fBgb

This is from 2005. The poll speaks for itself I guess, although it should be mentioned that Tortoise probably didn't deserve that amount of votes. Sort of leveraged his minion guild members to vote for him. There were probably others who should have been included in this poll but it's tough to remember Graal year-by-year for me. At that time, I'd have probably voted for either Brett or Exodus.
