New Updates/Features..Useless "admins"

edit- These are just my own personal views, I'm not trying to convince or persuade anyone to believe the same as I do.

Okay so ever since I started playing Graal in early 2010 there had been constant updates and added features until around the time the railroad was released..the same time Lollipop was fired/quit for an approximate time frame (unrelated to the updates btw)

Some of these are ones I remember the most:
Houses
Guild Sparring
Balamb (Honor Points)
Snowtown- major hype
Revolution
Guild Houses
Body shop (remember when we all used defaults?)
Horses
Deadwood
Railroad parts being sold as a furniture item

After the railroad I am at a loss of words, nothing notable has been released. I had taken a few month-long breaks so I'm sorry if I did miss something.. But when I came back around late August nothing noticeable had changed...

VIP is hardly an update, it contributes nothing at all to the game itself.

RPS is OK, its not an unwelcome update but I can only describe it as a "meh" update.

All of the past updates have been spaced out just enough to barely hold over til the next update or new big thing.

I haven't seen anything new or exciting in a long ass time.
I've lost faith in the hope of seeing anything exciting or refreshing..

just for good measure: REFRESHING

I'll just say it's sad that we need to wait for a holiday to come around to see new stuff in the game...I like the old days where random things would be added, it was a nice little surprise every time.

If this is the extent of the updates we will ever have again Graal has reached its peak, if it hasn't already passed...
__________________________________________

So about the extensive list of admins we now have...

Believe it or not we over 30+ "Graal Police" now who also serve as "Uploaders" ..and that's not including the "graphics" admins and other staff

I remember when I could count all the admins on one hand.

Really, why are GPs still being hired...the Graal population's rate of growth is definitely not in line with the rate at which these new admins are being hired.
Are they being hired because they deserve it? If its all based on good behavior and merit that is complete BS.

Maybe the focus should be shifted over to hiring people who can actually contribute to the game instead of aimlessly warping around graal looking for people to ban.

PS: I dont hate Graal, I am just disappointed in the lack of progress in the game..

Facebook server just serves as another source of revenue.

Personal uploads is something I did overlook, I dont use it much but I know it's a big part of the game for others so yeah...

Why do people always think its Stefan or the admins that usually get paid to do this? The company behind Graal Classic is Eurocenter. I think that already tells enough of who is getting paid

Stefan is the coder while Unixmad is the one collecting all the cash up. Again, stop accusing Stefan or the admins of ever asking for money. Be thankful that they're even wasting their time making updates for you guys

You mean getting paid by MadUnix to code, not getting paid by gralat packs... Rite?

Lanky 10-26-2011 08:56 PM

Well since SO many people like to glitch/hack nowadays, the admins have to work on patching things up too. They have to spend time uploading heads, bodies, shields, and swords. They have to ban and jail people constantly, and make new hats. They have to eat and sleep as well. People complain about not enough uploaders, yet most people on graal cant be trusted to be an uploader so that doesn't help. Put it all together and that's alot of time which leaves barely any time for them to work on new updates. And I realize not all admins have to do all of this, but people complain about EVERYTHING admins do anyway.

Well how about you try sitting around for hours making GANIs and Levels and Graphics.
Believe me, I sat around for days working on that stuff. I don't do that for myself, I don't have to make this stuff.

NYN 10-26-2011 09:48 PM

We need more GPs. And Uploaders. There are 1000 players on average online at the same time and on depending on the time of day only a few of us GPs can be on. At most 7 but usually it's 4 when I sign on. We all have lives and Graal can't be our #1 go-to like it could have been when we got hired. Our most quality staff are either in college or working a full time job (like me). That's life.

Now I sound like a broken record...

Yephenpeace 10-26-2011 10:04 PM

The only negative thing i have to say about Graal is that it's filled with whiny kids. Rexx, why do you care how many GPs there are? It doesn't effect you at all minus the fact that they might answer reports faster, which is good. I also think taking time to make a huge list of complaints about a video game is no were near as noble as fighting for human rights.

Lanky 10-26-2011 10:18 PM

Az has been creating levels for a long time so he's actually pretty fast at it. I don't need to speak for him but it's astonishing how much leveling he does all while juggling college, work, and his social life. Be grateful. If we didn't have him we wouldn't have ANY level updates. He makes an entire city and everyone just wants MORE MORE MORE for their $5... Give me a break lol.

Why don't ya help us out by submitting your levels? Maybe you can dedicate time to creating stuff for the server. Seriously WE ARE VERY OPEN TO PEOPLE WHO CAN HELP CREATE LEVELS AND GRAPHICS IF THEY ARE TALENTED AND MATURE! (Believe it or not it's been harder for players to be mature...)

Oh and as for me... I was never really responsible for any real update except:

Magic Shop (with the help of GFX department)
Dragon's only shop (again, with the help of GFX department)
Spring Break themed Nexus

I just don't have time to practice making levels. Usually in the winter I don't work as much but I just learned I'll be working full time until March so... NOTHING FROM ME. Stefan does the most updates and the dude is working on like 10 other games and deals with so much stuff I'm surprised he has any time to visit us.

So is that an open invitation for people to share their stuff or a counter statement?

If you really do mean that I'd like nothing more than to create stuff and help out but it seems more conceptual than anything :/
I've seen other people make tons of levels and stuff mostly shared on facebook, but I never see them commented on or responded to.
Maybe there is a reason for that but its just what I've seen in the past.

There's an untapped section of the community who want to contribute but feel like they cant for some reason

PS: I already do some minor graphics in Triggers graphics guild..

First of all, stop trying to end every compliment with a poor insult. It lowers your reputation kid...

Second, they released a quest. Be thankful that the reward is 3 hats for completing the quest 3 times and not another wasted item like holiday tokens

RPS is indeed a good update because it gives players something to do other than running around slashing endlessly and talking to random strangers on Graal Classic

VIP is also indeed another update. Please take notice that soon they're going to use VIP for more expanded deals exclusive to those who purchased it: Exclusive places/shops/items/etc.

This is just the beginning of the VIP. Im sure they're gonna use it for more than just item-gathering

As FurryAmigo said, Personal Uploads is also another good update. Its better than having to buy recolored heads for 8000 gralats (which now is dumb that they're [the players] recoloring heads and purchasing it for 20000 gralats)

Again, its not your taste but it does well suit players in other ways. Keep looking for an update that could make you happy but until then, there are some other players that feel satisfied with this.

And if you think im a major suck up, please turn your head to the hundreds of other players that play Graal Classic and pay for these updates. Say the same thing to them aswell... I dare you..

Its a quest if you took the time to actually see the clues rather than following quest volunteers...
And its very interesting if you took the time to see the details for yourself rather than skipping to the cave...

I would personally love to see some people try their hand at LAT.

IT IS MUCH HARDER THAN IT LOOKS!
(especially if you are going to create something worth while and detailed enough to use in game)

If there were some players out there who had some serious skill in the LAT department and were mature and avaliable, there could be opportunities for you.

Graal is esentially a gateway for players looking to expand their skills, whether it be in gfx, levels, or scripting. And in order to become really good, you need to PRACTICE!

Perhaps you should check these opportunities out instead of sitting around and waiting for the next update to be created for you.

Yephenpeace 10-27-2011 09:51 PM

LAT stands for Level Administration Team, or something like that haha, but it's level developing.

Lykke 10-27-2011 09:54 PM

LAT- developer of levels

If you are seriously interested in trying to develop graal levels, you can find more information and download GRAAL PC here: http://www.graalonline.com/playerwor...?page=Creation

There is a program called "Level Editor" which gives you the tools in a drag-and-drop format to create levels, and even learn some scripting.

Yephenpeace 10-27-2011 09:55 PM

I'm pretty terrible at LAT :P. I've made two levels and my indoor one is the only decent looking one. Lol, I can't make cliffs at all.

I love the level editor but im terrible at npc scripting anything not predefined, its like reading chinese.

Also is there place to download images used on the server that arent included in the tileset? I could winscp and get them but I was wondering if there is an official source? Or if you guys have a tileset just for classic iphone..

For those that do want to learn how to script, not all the scripts found in the editor will function with the online servers (I think) If I'm not mistaken, the servers run in GS2(Graal Script 2). The scripts found in the Editor are GS1.

Here's a link to some tutorials to learn GS2 as well as how to convert GS1 to GS2. I'm sure there's a thread somewhere that has a link that directs to this site or one of the tutorials but, this is for anyone who sees this post before finding that thread.

you are correct. The level editor's scripting engine will actually NEVER work with anything except graal reborn. Graal pc and iGraal servers use GS2 while the level editor is defaulted to GS1.
@Lykke
I have been making levels, and NPCs for awhile now. I've even made several GMaps. It's not all that complicated making the levels themselves, but the NPCs are harder. I can script both languages GS1 and GS2, and it is hard.

I like ViP a lot. Even though it might be pricey, it's worth it ;D. I don't think it really needs any updates. We already have a free item that comes along with the subscription every month..and that item can basically enter every "certain type of pet only" room. Plus, you can use your pc to access the Classic server if you don't have your iphone/ipod with you. And baddy killing on the FB server is amazing.

I agree with you on the Graal Police thing though. There's a lot of them o_o...but some of them are really helpful.
