Welp since the other threads are about specific Dota 2 things, this is now the general Dota 2 thread! It's basically my blog since I'm apparently the only one who plays. :(

The one hero I played when I tried DotA2 was Nyx. I fed.

Batrider's rival responses are the best. Also add me on steam if you want to play some time (I'm trash though).

riki was my first hero when my friend was showing me dota back in 08. im actually a support player nowadays. i used to be good mid but that was in hon.

I suck at Dota atm, but my best hero has to be zeus. no one expects my burst ability, so I just spam my w to get them low and just burst them after. I even get a dagon sometimes, even though its not a good item on zeus, just to pubstomp people.

my best carry is probably sniper or faceless void

Oh god, I remember getting invoker for the first time in a single draft game, I didn't know he was so hard D: I barely managed to do anything :(

I stop trying with invoker and just go full support. Coldsnap's all I need to getcha!

On my smurf I usually quas + wex mid though, exort is a bit situational and not worth it unless you're all on skype.

Starting to get pretty fed up playing in low skill bracket some of these people are just so bad.

You should see how bad I am, I don't even know what 80% of the heros do :P

Gave this game another shot. It's still incredibly confusing and the mechanics feel so foreign to me.

Highly recommed practicing vs bots. You can queue for bot matchmaking, it'll place you with 4 others and take em on together.

Learning curve is steep and a lot of hero mechanics aren't self explanatory, but yeah...it's the origin of the genre.

Once you get past the initial hump it's very fun.

Oh yeah, go to joindota.com to see the competitive matches. You can learn a lot about playstyles and item builds. Just don't expect pubbies to play like that.

I find the best way to learn when you're new is to just go into medium or hard mode bots and just try a different hero each time, that way you learn how to play against them.

Dota2 client is dam sexy and functional.

I despise the store. I hate how it uses Steam's browser. Other than that, it actually is pretty straight forward.

One thing that I never liked about LoL was how you have one client that serves as a launcher and another that is the game itself. I suppose it's to save resources and keeps you from having to run the entire game, but it just doesn't feel right. Maybe it's just me. :(

p.s I got like 50+ keys. If anyone needs one by now just lemme know.

Pretty much every LoL player despises the adobe air client, and have been begging Riot to make a new one. I prefer Dota's actual client as well.

Oh god, fountain diving as Omniknight is the most fun thing ever, your ult basically stops the fountain laser from doing anything for 7 seconds, and you can just put the repel on your carry and pwn them.

Lol the pudge+chen combo to hook people into the fountain was kinda funny.

ya good ol fountain hooks. some people were upset, not sure why...it's been part of the game for a long ass time.

I reached Gold on League and the season is almost over. I have almost no motivation to play during the off-season, but I'm gonna be active again during S4. Til then, I think I'm going to start playing Dota 2 starting this weekend.

If anyone has played League and then transitioned, what are the main differences? Ranked in League is just stressful and the community's personalities are generally awful. Just looking to play this to have fun.

dota has a steeper learning curve but it's more rewarding imo.

Itemization and learning the metagame, especially learning a new set of 100+ heroes. Mechanics also feel much different than League's.

meta is a bit of a loose term on dota. there is no single optimum strat and a lot of the heroes can be played very differently. i know you're referring to real metagame and not "1337 comp strats" but just thought i'd throw this in here. :D
